3 Warbirds vs Akira with escort

Post by Dark Primus »

Since there was no forum for only Star Trek debates i posted it here.

Now another scenario, a Romulan spy is trying to flee to the Romulan neutral zone, carrying documents regarding strategic deployments of the Federation fleet but gets eventually stopped by Federation forces close to the boarder. Three Warbirds decloaks and crosses the boarder trying to rescue their spy but gets intercepted by one Akira with its two Defiants class starships escorting it and a full battle erupts. Which side wins this engagement?

THATS the akira. Ew, I wish they would break off from the saucer section with warp necelles attached somehow designs, like the defiant-class.

In actually dig teh Akiras, they look kind of cool. The SF strategy should be simple. The Akira stands off and engages the warbirds at range, the Defiants focus their attacks on one warbird at a time. The amount of punishment just one defiant can dish out is tremendous, focussed on one target, I figure one, max two passes and the warbird is debris. The warbirds are none too manuevrable and they'll have to make a choice, ignore the Akira and focus on the Defiants, or try to take the Akira down as quickly as possible to focus on the Defiants. Either way, I don't see the warbirds pulling this one out.

Now, Akira has, how many, 15 torp launchers IIRC. That should be enough to kick Romulan ass.

Yes but it appears they are not able to use all of them at the same time. If they could, then imagine the firepower.

Yes then that would be a cool Federation ship and I haven't seen one since the original Enterprise, Reliant and Excelsior.

My take on this is that the Akira is better armed that one of the Rommies. The problem is we have 3 Warbirds here. These vessels are nothing to laugh at. True battleships with heavy firepower and shielding. One on one the Akira would win but in this situtuation the Romulons just have too much firepower. A better situation would be at least 2 Akira's and 2 Defiants. This would provide more of a firepoweer parity. As of right now the Akira and friends would take down 2 of the Warbirds and then finally be knocked out by the third Rommie. There is alot to say to ability to concetrat fire from more than one ange(this is why the Prometious is such a good ship).

No, the Prometheus is an idiotic ship. Far better to build 3 seperate ships that don't need all the connection and seperation bullshit.

True but the surprize factor is good for something in a fleet engagement
