As far as animated classics go, hmm, americans haven't really taken the media seriously, Basski tried with LotR, Wisards, & Fire & Ice.

I really haven't seen much of it, but I know what it is.

I think Sheppard's on the money, Spanky. The UN can't even wipe its own ass. It has no real authority. It may not recognize the conquest of one nation by another, but it's the Americans who reverse said conquests. If your country is friends with the US, you can pretty much do whatever you like .For example, when Iraq invades another country, the US forms a coalition to throw them out of Kuwait. When Israel invades a country, the US sells them weapons.

Still for the most part, and in the general sense, NERV is under the control of SEELE.

Note: I might be wrong about NERV being part of the UN.
