and not forget that usually ports of japanese games are rather shitty on PC: last case in point: RE4.

If you smash you car while doing something which is worth hundreds of time the value of the car, of course you will be laughing all the way to the bank.

This tunnel vision focus on a single facet of Microsoft's Console program is mindbogglingly stupid.

How is system exclusivity in the interest of anyone except that system's manufacturer? How would this possibly benefit you (or anyone else) as a consumer?
Exclusives are more polished than multi-platform titles, since the developers can exploit all the possible programming techniques particular to a certain architecture, instead of having to worry about maintaining easily-portable code. If you look at your own favourite console games, I'd guess that exclusives make up the majority of the list.

That's a decent point as it applies to me; but then my memory is utterly fallible.

I seem to remember this really good game though, Soul Caliber 2? Maybe you remember what Namco did with that multiplatform title? At the least, it blows one gaping hole in that argument. Well 3 actually.

I doubt it.

SRW has no release prospects outside of Japan other than the Original Generation subseries. What possible sense would it be to release any major game from the series on a console that is a failure in Japan?

Because I shelled out the cash for a PS3, and I don't want to see blu-ray tank either.

If you're afraid of something tanking at such an early stage, you shouldn't have been an early adopter. You have what.. six games at the moment, with something like two-three more coming out in the immediate future?

Not to mention that four of those six games aren't any good? :P

Looks like the fan-issue again.

Ace Combat on my 360? It's more likely than you think.
March202007
Kotaku Magu: Ace Combat Landing On Xbox 360

Everyone's jumping ship! Yesterday Capcom announced that Devil May Cry 4 would be appearing on the Xbox 360. Recently, a trio of PlayStation games have appeared on the Block Buster data base. Those games included Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, Ace Combat 6 and Beautiful Katamari. All titles are published by Namco, who has supported the Xbox 360 since the beginning. A recent issue of Famitsu reveals that the sixth installment of the PlayStation flight simulator Ace Combat will be finding its way to the Xbox 360 sometime this year with Xbox Live support. Wonder if Warhammer and Katamari can't be too far behind... Brian Ashcraft

Eds Note: As far as we can tell from the above article, Ace Combat 6 is an Xbox 360 exclusive, which it may or may not be. Don't have confirmation on this, so stay tuned for official announcements!

This won't sink in till I have HD screengrabs! Oh, and DMC3 too. If I were Sony I would hope this is the floodgates opening, cause if it's just a crack in the dam PS3's screwed. I'd be throwing big bags of cash around to keep exclusives exclusive.

For now this shall suffice:

"Splash one." 8)

Also from that website's article that I grabbed that pic off is the worst pun of the week:
Other outlets are reporting AC6 as an Xbox 360 exclusive, but as IGN notes, there's simply "no word in Famitsu on a PS3 version." We can't assume Namco would (after)burn Sony by leaving them without an AC release for the PS3...then again, we could've said the same about Ridge Racer 6. Check back with us for more details on where Ace Combat's home base will be soon.
If this trend continues Sony's best-case-scenario is something like a SNES / Genesis balance of power. The moment news breaks of certain Konami or Square exclusives going multiplatform I'm dying of euphoria.

Yes. Yes we are. 8)

I hope though that multiplayer doesn't amount to what it did in previous incarnations where unlimited afterburning could lead to stalemate; it may take massive double, triple, and quadruple teaming to corner someone enough to decisively win in big multiplayer matches. N^squared though should work it's magic once you have a lead in an OPFOR team dogfight.

That or they tweak the missile speed up just a little bit more to open the game up. (though keep it within the realms of whimsy so it's still classic arcade gameplay that the series is known for) If there's the same problems, the semi-active guided missiles will undoubtedly be a key to victory (the ones where you keep the radar on the target; a trick if you didn't know, switch the radar off and let the missile close distance, when you switch the radar back on, it can pull insanely hi-G turns in an instant ;)); that or if they make the QAAM's like they were in AC4 again. (i.e. they only give up after about 8 passes, instead of 2 )

While those aren't hi-res they do show the detail well enough and it must be said: finally, both the planes AND the ground will look good! And a much-improved draw rate too, that is only good in a flying game.

edit: I still crack up every time I see these. To be fair, they were probably made by avid Ace Combat fans but any Ace Combat fan convinced of the PS3's invincibility this round also happens to be an idiot. Without further ado:
3 fake

PS3 covers.
