Outlook 2003 Problem

Post by Arrow »

Outlook 2003 just developed a very interesting problem. When I was clicking links, one Firefox window would open as normal, but an open file dialog would pop up, wanting an .exe to open the link with, so I gave it Firefox's .exe. So now when I click on a link, I get two Firefox windows.

This only happens if Firefox isn't open before hand. If Firefox is open and I click on a link, everything acts normally.

Any ideas what's going on?

Did you get the recent update of Firefox? Because some of your settings may have been reset or a glitch introduced.

I haven't update to 2.0.0.3 yet. I know MS pushed out an update to Windows Defender yesterday, so I'm wondering if that's got some to do with it (that's the only change to my system).

That could be it.

Though if you can, I'd suggest just converting to Thunderbird. It's got the same functionality as Outlook but with out the M$ attitude problems when it comes to working with non-MS programs.

I tried that before. IIRC, it wouldn't read all my folders when importing email. Hell, I even tried using Windows Mail when I first installed Vista, but getting it to import from Outlook 2003 requires a whole bunch of bullshit. I guess I can give Thunderbird another shot.

And after farting around with Outlook for half an hour, I've got everything imported into Thunderbird.
