That's the thing, they won't. 'Cause they know they'd lose the argument, but they're still Trekwhores who think the Borg are INVINCIBLE! Or at least, that's my take on it.General Schatten wrote:Addendum: I would really like to see whoever voted 'all knighs assimulated/borg lose a few drones' come and defend that notion...
Roughly 10,000 drones, according to Wikipedia. Still, even if those numbers are correct, I stand by my belief that three Jedi/Imperial Knights could easily conquer the Sphere. Drones are just utterly useless in combat, and they'd have no way to defend against Force-abilites. If anyone says that the Borg can adapt to the Force, they need their damn heads examined. Also, lightsabers. Don't forget lightsabers.Jericho Kross wrote:I wonder how many borg are even on a sphere?

Adapt to someone psychokinetically applying enough force to your neck that it would crush durasteel, a metal which is known to use Neutronium in it's creation and makes the best metal your civilization has look like aluminum sheets? That person is beyond any help that ANY doctor could possibly offer.SilverWingedSeraph wrote:If anyone says that the Borg can adapt to the Force, they need their damn heads examined. I'm pretty sure the neutronium is in dura-armor, not durasteel.General Schatten wrote:Adapt to someone psychokinetically applying enough force to your neck that it would crush durasteel, a metal which is known to use Neutronium in it's creation and makes the best metal your civilization has look like aluminum sheets? Wookiepedia's telling me it's both and that Vader's armour was durasteel... and the KotOR Strat Guides description (Which is in the game) of the Neutronium Edge melee weapon upgrade tells me it's used in Durasteel too, and I'm pretty sure that's considered fluff and thus official...NecronLord wrote:I'm pretty sure the neutronium is in dura-armor, not durasteel.General Schatten wrote:Adapt to someone psychokinetically applying enough force to your neck that it would crush durasteel, a metal which is known to use Neutronium in it's creation and makes the best metal your civilization has look like aluminum sheets? In theory the Borg should win unfortunately the way they would win is contradicted by Voyager.
Borg appear to have extensive control of their own ships. They can repair them very quickly to the point that you see metal framework bending back into shape.
With this much control the Borg Cube should be able to locate the three Jedi on their ship, send a few hundre drones at the to occupy the Jedi then during the fight just detonate everything in the immediate area that is explosive. Sure you kill lots of drones and you do damage to the ship but when the other option is having every drone onboard killed by Jedi you go for the extreme solution.
The problem lies in Species89888, when one of them was rampaging through the Borg Cube the borg were too dumb to try the same tactic which would have worked fine against the alien.
So either the Borg are just too fucking stupid to think of what to me appears to be a rather simple though drastic solution OR there is nothing explosive enough to do the trick.
I am going for dumb cause we know Borg ships are loaded with power junctions. Riker blasted several with hand phasers right after beaming in and if they are relatively rare then what are the odds he appeared close to several. If the Borg overloaded every junction within 100 or even 1000 feet of the three Jedi then the explosion should take them out.

Yeah because the Bog are going to ignore one of their main programmed ideals just to kill off 3 people on their ship. Think back to TNG when Riker and a fully armed away team beamed aboard they didn't bat an eyelid and infact didn't react at all untill Riker started shooti8ng the place up. With jedi precog and Force speed the place is gutted before the Borg even know they have visitors. Really, the Borg are worse than Volgons when it comes to accepting new input.

Precog doesnt seem to cover such general danger though. Jedi were wasted by those large AOE guns in AOTC.
Also given enough time the Borg should win. There are how many thousands of Borg onboard? If the Jedi cannot escape and must fight constantly then eventually they should be overcome by sheer exhaustion.

So you're just gonna ignore my point about the Borg ignoring their main directive which is assimilate new species and technology. Everyone knows how single minded they get about new cultures. So how in the hell do you figure the Borg are gonna about face on 100's of years of assimilation. The sphere may have thousands of drones about, but most of them will be in sleep mode, The Borg have shown a poor reaction time to outside stimuli, so by the time they realise wtf is happening our Imperial Knights are carving the place up. You also mention AoE weapons, show me an instance of Borg enploying them.

Do you realise how easy it'd be to beat a Borg?Baal wrote:Lord Pounder wrote:Also given enough time the Borg should win. There are how many thousands of Borg onboard? If the Jedi cannot escape and must fight constantly then eventually they should be overcome by sheer exhaustion.

If either of those contained any amount of Neutronium worth talking about, they'd be unuseable. I seem to recall Darth Vader... not going through the floor when Luke kicked him backwards, and not sinking like a bullet through water when he stood on the icy rock floors on Hoth. This is the 'teaspoon full weighs as much as a loaded oil tanker' stuff, remember.General Schatten wrote:Wookiepedia's telling me it's both and that Vader's armour was durasteel... and the KotOR Strat Guides description (Which is in the game) of the Neutronium Edge melee weapon upgrade tells me it's used in Durasteel too, and I'm pretty sure that's considered fluff and thus official...
Though of course, to drag up Darkstar's favourite, Star Wars neutronium is 'mined' like the stuff in Stargate, in at least one source...

Thanks to Cracken's threat dossier (which is where the "mined" bit comes from, btw) it is. The moon in question had veins of IIRC Neutronium, lommite, and Zersium, which make durasteel, which IIRC was said to be used in starship armors. In other sources (EG SWE) it was just dura-armor.NecronLord wrote:I'm pretty sure the neutronium is in dura-armor, not durasteel.General Schatten wrote:Adapt to someone psychokinetically applying enough force to your neck that it would crush durasteel, a metal which is known to use Neutronium in it's creation and makes the best metal your civilization has look like aluminum sheets? I suppose it depends on how much is used and how its used. I mean if you're really going to be pedantic, there are a metric fuckload of ships that use durasteel/duraarmor (even blast doors, like in shatterpoint, and a shield in one of the Daley Han Solo novels nevermind body armor or weapons.) so the same logic probably applies to them. (think Venators or Acclamators which we see in the atmosphere, especially the Acclamators which have landing gear.)NecronLord wrote:If either of those contained any amount of Neutronium worth talking about, they'd be unuseable. Of course, since Sarli decided to throw "mass lightening" into the SW univerese...
I never said Borg had AOE weapons. I pointed out that AOE weapons taking out Jedi show that their precog does not seem to apply to more general threats.Lord Pounder wrote:So you're just gonna ignore my point about the Borg ignoring their main directive which is assimilate new species and technology. I know the knights will slaughter by the hundreds. A Borg cube though is populated with thousands if not tens of thousands of Borg. I dont care how badass the Jedi are they will eventually get tired. Sheer numbers will eventually wear down the Jedi and one by one out of sheer exhaustion they will allow a borg to get too close and get injected. At that point they are toast. Sure Jedi TK might be able to remove the nanobots but an exhausted Jedi still slicing through dozens of Borg isnt going to be able to concentrate well enough to defeat the nanobots inside them while defending from borg a the same time.
I am no fan of ST but this battle is just too one-sided. The numbers are just too stacked against the 3 men carrying the lightsabers.
