I can't believe I just thought of this, but with Restoration magic and naturally regenerating MP, couldn't you just, you know, never sleep? o.O

Man, broken.

Good man! STALKER it is! Looks like fun, and besides, anything that makes Stas happy is a good thing. We end up getting cool Russian post-apoc imports that way, verily.

... How is that broken? This isn't a survival RPG. You don't have to find and eat produce to live either.

It's broken because you have to go out of your way to avoid leveling. If an RPG has character levels in its system, isn't it intuitive that they be sought after like the Holy Grail, rather than avoided like the Black Death?

I didn't quite feel like grinding my way through the 100+ caves before I could do interesting stuff. I honestly don't mind levelling at all.

But come on: you can defeat Satan at level one! That's just a tiny bit stupid. I agree grinding is bad (and ruins things like Final Fantasy games) so DON'T HAVE LEVELS, make an ADVENTURE GAME and not a stats-based, levelling RPG.

Flash and I are both playing STALKER, and we've had quite different experiences. He's deeper into the Zone than I am, but he hasn't done as much 'stuff'. That's pretty neat.

Here's a hint to anyone who wants a fun open ended RPG. Skip Oblivion and go buy Morrowind GOTY Edition.

Morrowind, where diplomacy, combat and lock-picking were all accomplished by rapidly clicking and hoping you got lucky? I love Morrowind as much as anyone - it's certainly a more creative, unique world than Oblivion's rubbish generic medieval setting, but it certainly had problems.

Hey I'd TOTALLY forgotten about the sploit-ridden, free-xp, diplomacy system. Wow, that was BROKEN.

Sadly my biggest problem with Morrowind is that it takes place in a giant gravel pit full of cliff racers. It's visually so bland that it really puts me off from going back to it, even if I enjoyed it a lot more than Oblivion.

I never said said Morrowind and its expansions were flawless or perfect, only that it's superior to Oblivion. Though I'd recommend that anyone who gets the game go find the "Passive Healthy Wildlife" mod, so you don't get attacked by every random animal you encounter unless said animal is diseased.
