Providing aid. It's possible that Second Impact hit the USA pretty hard. Plus there are political considerations. In ep, Gendo and another man are discussing support for the Eva project, and the man mentions that the US congress will provide support, but that they're worried about the economic impacts at home.

Yet tiny Japan is still a world power, despite being a tiny island, which means
that they would've gotten wiped out by the tsunamis caused by 2nd Impact...

Shep, the JSDF was absorbed into the UN after Second Impact.

It was the JSSDF (Japan Strategic Self Defence Force) that was featured in Eva, which is controlled solely by the Japanese government and has access to BC weapons.

SEELE basically pooled the world economy into their projects, primarily NERV and the Human Instrumentality Project.

The US was busy building two Evas of it's own. Besides, America's ineference would not have mattered, as you see the Angels take apart every aspect of conventional weaponery. Things were loated in Japan because that's where a certain . . . something (wouldn't want to spoil anything) was located. As soon as America completed the EVAs they were shipped to Japan since that's where the Angels were attacking.

The Japanese Strategic Self Defence Force was just a last ditch effort by the Japanese military officials to try and show they can sto pthe Angels on their own (they couldn't). It had no significance in the grans scheme of things at all. America sending troops would not have helped either. America instead sends EVAs, which WOULD have helped (except for the fact that they build their EVAs like they do cars).

Shep, that's what was going on. You can't just ignore what you don't want to hear and skip over the real purpose of the series.

Yogi: It wasn't the US at all. It was SEELE having the US NERV-2 branch building Evas, like the German NERV branch did with the Eva 02 and 05s. Most likely they would have transported them to Japan after they recieved human souls.

Yeah, it voilates the Second Law of Thermodynamics. If you see End of Evangelion, it also violates conservation of mass as well as around (at last count) eight zillion other laws of physics.

Star Wars also does nasty thing with the laws of physics. Your point?

BTW, I think that the Nevada facility dissapeared as opposed to blowing up.

I vaguely remember that the Americians fought for the rights to construct their EVAs, though that might have been in the Manga.

Besides, I will AGAIN re-iterate, were you paying attention when the angels were strolling through everything and taking no damage?

Lets not talk about the big flaw of the series:

The angels are only invincible because nothing can penetrate their AT
field except for another AT field on the same wavelength.

We know that NERV can generate AT fields, (They did build what, 5 different
EVA units?), so why spend all the money on giant robots when you
can just build a generator using the same principles and base it at Tokyo-3,
and use it to cancel out the Angels' AT fields, allowing conventional military
forces to kill them?

You'd save a LOT of money and get results faster than trying to reverse
engineer giant 100 foot tall robots...

But then again, common sense never applies in anime

Shep, only the Evas THEMSELVES can generate AT-Fields, which require a human soul to be inside a copy of an Angel.

No, LET'S talk about this supposed flaw.

NERV creates the EVAs by *** SPOILER, not that anyone cares *** taking the genetic material from the angels they have (either Lilith or Adam, I forget which) and using them to "grow" the EVAS (which are biological, by the way). That's how the EVAs are able to generate the AT-field. NERV did NOT reverve engineer the AT field (or the S2 engine) just copied it from the Angels. It's Black Technology to them, they don't know how it works, just that it does.

Actually, it isn't. The Angels use biological weapons on NERV's Evas, but nothing that NERV has even comes close to scratching an Angel's systems. These are being that have mad 1337 conservation of mass defyng regeneration.

I thought the Nevada incident occured when the S2(N2 is something else entirely) engine went into overdrive and just, well, ate the construction facility.

N2: Non-Nuclear, I believe. Essentially, a large shape-charge used for defensive purposes, so you don't get that nasty radiation that follows nuclear weapons.
