I like it, really, but I remember when I first picked up the controller for the first game, I remember thinking that the ultimate awesome would come from two guitars, a microphone, and a drum kit.
Someone agrees
I am officially stoked.

Do not meddle in the affairs of insomniacs, for they are cranky and can do things to you while you sleep.

The thought of that alone blows my mind with awesome.
How would they do the voice aspect though? I've seen a few of my friends obsess over some DS game that requires precise verbal input, and half the time it barely works, and that's for basic everyday nouns spoken plainly. How would you begin to cover singing? I imagine it would have to be adapted to each individual voice first, but what about people like me who like to imitate the accent and inflection of the original vocalist?
Unless it's something lame like just pressing colored buttons on a microphone. They can get away with it with a guitar, 'cause that's awesome, but a microphone?

Is it programmed to read what words you're singing? I would imagine it'd be a hell of a lot easier to just read your pitch than your words. Which should be what matters anyway in a music-esque game.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
This is the best news i've heard all day. Stark and I have been talking about a game like this for ages now, so i'm currently wetting my pants with excitement.
Plus it will give me another music game to kick Stark's ass all over the living room with.
And i'd imagine the vocal system would be similar to Singstar which only recognises pitch. I've sung many a song just by going 'do-de-do-de-do', and scored very well.

Heh. Being ruled at EBA, Ouendan, Guitar Hero, and Singstar isn't enough - I will now spend hundreds of dollars to be ruled at another music game!
Magus, does Karaoke Revolution actually 'recognise' words? I find that difficult to believe. Measuring pitch and timing is one thing, but voice recognition in a singing game? How many DS games are hard to use because the voice soft wants a Japanese voice - Flash has a very deep voice, so he has serious problems with things like Nintendogs.
And the eighth time you have to sing that bloody Dido song you just want to hum through it.
