Good Point. I forgot the repair costs and thought of parking in orbit and having the buyer geting his cargo to cut down on parking fees. Of course a TradeFed ship coulb be turned into a smaller Errant Venture. The Droids merely meant I didn't need to go to every spaceport looking for hires convinece in locating and securing not maintenance.
This is an empty country and I am it's king, and I should not be allowed to touch anything.

Trade Fed ships are significantly larger than ISDs like the Errant Venture.Karmic Knight wrote:Good Point. Corellian Corvette. Not the fastest of ships, but they have a decent turn of speed, plus they seem to be designed to be flexible. You could operate as a privateer, a small passenger ship, cargo to a certain extent, they seem to be fairly adaptable.

The Wild Karrde would be a sweet ship to inherit. Got cargo capacity for legit or smuggling work, equipment for deepspace salvage work, and three turbolasers that can pack a punch if needed. Plus who knows what sort of nifty gadgets and gizmos are on there to aid in the collection of information while remaining undetected.

Bounty Hunting is too dangeours...
A fully outfited Action VI transport would be a great place to start. It has a very reasonable cargo capcity, and more then enough to be converted for Passenger use as well for paying customers.
The Wild Karrde Has already been mentioned a number of times, so I won't me-too it, but even a Standard Action VI Would do well with some additional defenses.

Some kind a courier that's small enough to be run by one or two people, gets good mileage, with plenty of cheap parts and qualified technicians. Probably a YT series. You can do cargo or passenger runs in a fairly safe part of the galaxy, maybe upgrade to something bigger a few years down the line.
Getting a warship and becoming a pirate is just asking for trouble.
Or if the crew requirements are light enough and the modifications are affordable, a late-model Action series converted into a passenger liner. That'd be cool.

My thoughts as well. I would say the Outrider (or another YT-2400). Smaller than most of the YT type ships, and newer than the larger YT-1300Bounty wrote:Some kind a courier that's small enough to be run by one or two people, gets good mileage, with plenty of cheap parts and qualified technicians. Get an Interdictor, and go Pirate...it has hangar bays for starfighters and shuttle and assault-craft, a fairly decent offensive capability (at least on par with a light cruiser), it's a big-ish ship (but not too big), and you can hold down any of your prey you'd want to hit, or hyper out if a convoy has more protection than you can chew on.
Of course, I'm running off of my experience from the X-Wing/TIE games, which have the Interdictor as basically a modified VSD - similar size, but smaller overall firepower. Plenty for most freighters though.
If I had to go as a freight guy, most of the Corellian YT-series seem to be the way to go. Yeah normal freighters carry quite a bit more and are far more profitable, but the galaxy's a dangerous place, and there's something to be said about speed/maneuverability/firepower...rather than being a sitting duck.
If I had to have a large freighter, I'd only want a Star Galleon...

I'd like to have a Corellian corvette, although ISD or even an Executor-class star dreadnought would also be nice (but all too big, in the end - they're warships, after all).
One thing about the Corellian corvette: a comic (I don't remember the name, I'll check it out as soon as I can) showed that Chewbacca and Han could pilot one (or actually, many, as it turned out - they were smuggling corvettes) of those things without any additional help.

It's a tough call between a YT-1930 and YT-2000. The -1930 boasts a good cargo capacity and can carry a decent amount of passengers, but the -2000 is more heavily armed (at least in stock configuration).
I'd probably go for YT-1930 though (Wookieepedia). It looks cool, has a lot of cargo space I could use for any number of things, and I'm sure the shielding, weaponry, engines, etc. are all upgradeable if I can make enough money.

I'd just get a small freighter Millenium Falcon style and haul cargo for an honest living. Unlike a lot of you guys I wouldn't go down the pirate route because pirates generally have short life spans. You should also take into account that the bigger your pirate vessel the larger the chance of a mutiny, and the faster the Empire will track you down and destroy you.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Heh....you got me there, but considering how Booster Terrik was able to heavily downsize the crew, maybe we could recruit from outer rim worlds....or depending on the era, form a partnership with the Alliance.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Where are you going to get the tens of thousands needed to crew it?
Member its only you and the ship at first.
EDIT: and as others said, sell the ship.
EDIT 2: If it is unrealistic (and yes, it likely is ) one of the Corellian YT-series freighters or a Corellian Corvette/Gunship.
To those people who want a huuuuge warship: how, exactly, are you going to recruit a crew*, keep them from committing mutiny, keep the Imperials/whoever runs the place in your end of the galaxy off your back, or even fuel the damn thing? A single guy sitting on a Star Destroyer might as well have no Star Destroyer at all.
*It's all well and good saying you'll "get them from the Outer Rim", but then you'd end up on a ship with five thousand grumpy outlaws. There's a lot of hard vacuum where they can dump the newbie...

I'm sure a single person can 'pilot' a modern supertanker for a few hours, but that doesn't mean they can run it efficiently. The bigger your ship is, the more maintenance and attention it needs. And what happens when you need to fix a problem that requires three or more people to coordinate their efforts in different parts of the ship? One thing about the Corellian corvette: a comic (I don't remember the name, I'll check it out as soon as I can) showed that Chewbacca and Han could pilot one (or actually, many, as it turned out - they were smuggling corvettes) of those things without any additional help.

Seriously, I'd go with a scaled-down un-weaponized version of the World Devastator and be a one-man Vogon Constructor fleet. Then I'd hire the whole lot of you schmucks to go around and distribute my products!
Or I'd get one of the fancy shiny yachts used by Padme and go around providing transportation for rich fancy people. Space limo!
