Fun. The AI needs some work with its gun accuracy, though. I do some simple evasive maneuvers, and am practically invincible once it runs out of missiles. Has anyone managed to kill that last goddamn raider yet though? It keeps jumping away as soon as I get it under 40%. I want that kill! :P

I got him to 13 percent, then his health stayed there. :) The key is, he's going to try to orbit you as tight as possible while launching missiles at first. This is the best time to take a shot at him, since he'll be predictable. So you turn with him, while using the lateral thrusters to move away from him. You'll sloooooowly start to shift to be on his rear, and can blast away.

Did you try following the instructions I post earlier about deleteing the files and re-running the openAl installer?

Aw, crap. I'm sorry, I totally forgot about this post yesterday. And I probably won't be around tonight either.

Yes. And it still doesnt work. The launcher just crashes before it can initialize.

Are you using the game exe or the actual launcher?

If you go to the Beyond the Red Line message board there is a pretty lenghty troubleshooting thread.

This looks like a fun game, and I love nBSG, but I have three questions for those of you who have already downloaded it:

1. Is it easy to install, (automatic installer/prompts,)

2. Can you run it without Freespace two on your computer, and

3. Just how buggy is it? is it worth the download??

Thank you.

1: It's a standard install, for the most part. The only thing that has to be done is run the program "Run Me First.exe". This installs the proper sound ... things. Although some people have had install issues, mine was smooth sailing.

2: Yes. I've never touched FS2.

3: I haven't noticed any bugs, except for one. It wouldn't let me map my mouse to roll. I could only map yaw. I also couldn't map the other 5 buttons on my mouse, but I have that problem in other games as well. And it is worth the download (hopefully there are some more seeders for you).

Check the Beyond the Red Line forum. If its a problem with openAl you've got to delete a dll or two and run another installer. There may be other problems (like you're not using generic software for your sound drivers... etc).
