Yeah, on the other hand it´s possible that these textures came off a commercial textures library which the Stalker guys bought and which ID Software had bought as well. I´d wait to judge until there´s more reliable information about this.

Even with performance improvements I can't run in dynamic mode with a lameo 6600. BAH!

I have a better card than that, and I can't do dynamic lighting with a bunch of NPCs around either.

It's irritating, because instead of having to turn off the shadows or something like usual, I have to turn the game into 2002-esque flat textures. It looks so much better with dynamic lighting... but even with eveything else turned off or to zero, it's a series of laggy postcards. Still, I can do the first battle easy enough. :)

just started playing, and a quick question.

If I drop gear, say, inside the shopkeepers store, will it still be sitting there when I come back?

Should do. Corpses and random guns etc stay for a while. If you want to store securely, use the blue toolbox-looking things you'll find all over the place. Anything placed in them will stay there forever.

If you poke around enough you'll find a half-dozen in every area. Some are better placed than others, and some are right next to infinite bandit spawn points. :)

SHIT! It won't function! And the thinggy that pops out when I try to start the game is in fucking German! Fucking Nazis!

Anyway, it goes like this:

Die Page-Datei ist deaktiviert oder die DateigroBe reicht nicht aus um zu funktionieren braucht das spiel eine pagerdatei von mindestens 2GB. Bitte die system konfiguration anpassen, bevor das spiel ernent gastartet wird.

What the flying fuck does that mean?

Christ, I increased my pagefile or whatever the fuck that is to 2000MB-2500MB. IS THAT NOT ENOUGH? Isn't 2000MB 2 gigabytes?

EDIT:

Okay, here are my vital statistics:

Pentium D 2.89 GHz
448mb RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 200

Fucking Dual Core wank bullshit. Next generation supercomputer bullshit my dick ass fuck.

I'm pretty sure it says (paraphrased): "The page-data is deactivated or the amount of page data is insufficient, the game needs at least 2GB of page data. Please ensure you meet the requirements before restarting the game."

I don't really know what page data is, sorry.

Try setting it to "System Managed size", see if it can sort things out on its own.

448mb RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 200
The game requirements say 512megs of ram, and a graphics card with 128 megabytes of ram. You're gpu is only siphoning off 64 megs (from ram which you really need to run the game...). It looks to me like you simply don't meet the requirements.

odd...my laptop is a 2.0 Turon64, gig of RAM, and a Xpress 200...and I can run STALKER on it. IT sucks because I have to use minimal graphics settings....but I can run it....

I don't know, really- depends on who you talk to. The AK-74 is everyone knows an AKM rechambered for new ammunition together with a new muzzle brake and a few other minor changes, so the low tolerances by comparison to the M16 would make it less accurate, while some say that with high quality 5.45x39mm ammunition there's no appreciable difference.

Can't I possibly run it off at minimal settings or something?

I'm running it at minimum settings with 512 megs of ram, a 1.8 Celeron and a Radeon X700. And it hops and stutters like a bitch.

If this game was any worse, I'd have given up on playing it a long time ago.

So...I'm thinking of buying a new RAM stick. How much does a 1gig RAMstick cost?

I'm stuck at the bottom of lab X18. I just grabbed the documents and now the room is full of fire and the door I came in through is closed and giving me the message "someone is holding it closed" how do I escape?

Stated it a few pages ago, their is a poltergiest in the room attacking you with randomly placed fire anomolies. The mutant itself looks like a TOS red shirt slaughtering cloud entity. Just shoot him until he explodes
