If that was the reality then there would be no smugglers at all.

Scrubbing the decks of the Executor;-)

I'd apply for a position in the Imperial Navy, but without connections I'd not end up as an officer.

Officer on the Executor is questionable position anyway, since even one slip up is likely to make you end up giving Vader an oral apology. But as long as you apologize, it shouldn't hurt for too long.

Be a Galactic 500 -illionaire. Own KDY or Siennar something. Enough credits to have a real sexship of a skyhook over Coruscant. Rich enough to have a few Moffs or admirals in yer pocket. Influential enough to get the occasional courtesy audience on Augie.

Butler or Rose petal thrower to Augie could also be interesting. But they prolly have droids for that sort of thing.

For government service, CO of an ISD in a backwater dump of an Outer-Rim like Tatooine. If ISDs were sent out on patrols on their lonesome like man-o-wars in the sailing days, that would be awesome. Like COs of those wooden sailing warships, you're the ruler of all that you survey and in the days of the Empah, nobody will fuck with you. Even the Rebs would think twice. Sexual I think.

After thinking about it, I would start out as a crew member on some kind of transport, and then play it by ear, going where ever the wind blows, or seeing how this is Star Wars, where ever the Force leads me.

Unless you're at least a 100 millionaire IRL, you're departing from the spirit of the thread.

I'd probably be a holonet tech trying to work his way through his last semesters of college. "Welcome to Holonet support ma'am, we're happy to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or however many daily hours and days per week are typical on your planet..." Maybe in a modestly successful band or regional Opera if I were lucky. But someday I'll headline at Galaxies Opera House, mark my words!

I would probably be that guy who goes and "disappears" uncooperative Senators/nuisances/people with photographs the Emperor does not want seen. The pay would be good and the hours very flexible (unless the boss wants me to kill a whole crapload of people at once of course).

My growing contempt for the Human animal also means I would not need much "conditioning" for the job.

Hmm. Not sure my IRL job exists in the GFFA context. Perhaps a low-level staffer in a Senatorial delegation from an outer-rim planet?

Based on IRL skillset, a technician on whatever passes for a space salvage and recovery starship is another possibility I suppose.

Actually I'm pretty sure Kuat of Kuat did away with the merchant families, putting himself as head of KDY.

:D
Without connections, I'd be sent to explore the unknown regions - and meet my end in the form of Rukh after failing Thrawn.

Exploring in a Nebulon B (something like the one with the towed array in the black fleet crisis) should be interesting.

Industries come and industries go but they'll always need good administrators. Just not on Coruscant, admins who slip up there end up banished in the underworld. I like sunlight.

If you were looking for a bland, mostly safe job, it would probably be something akin to Assistant Manager for a medium-size business on the Mid-Rim.

Like most I'd like to save up, get a nice star ship and make my living hauling passengers and freight between worlds.

Oh for a Starship and a star to sail her bye... ^.^

Yeah, but the shipping business in Star Wars is probably extremely competitive, and you'd have to contend with conglomerates like the later equivalents to the Trade Federation.

A Managing Director at the Bank of the Core's Investment Banking division. I can just imagine what the merger & acquisition models would look like on the GFFA's version of Excel.
