It's irritating, because instead of having to turn off the shadows or something like usual, I have to turn the game into 2002-esque flat textures. It looks so much better with dynamic lighting... but even with eveything else turned off or to zero, it's a series of laggy postcards. Still, I can do the first battle easy enough.

Try setting it to "System Managed size", see if it can sort things out on its own.

The game requirements say 512megs of ram, and a graphics card with 128 megabytes of ram. You're gpu is only siphoning off 64 megs (from ram which you really need to run the game...). It looks to me like you simply don't meet the requirements.

I don't know, really- depends on who you talk to.
