Hell, there's a receptionist at a pharmaceutical training institute here in town who you'd have to be gay not to like. It's not as if hot black chicks are that rare. In my experience, exposure is the difference. People who say "I like all woman but I do have a thing for <insert group here>" are one thing, but when I see people say that they dislike an entire race, I find that they usually don't have a lot of personal exposure to that race (the same factor which is very strongly correlated with other forms of racism).

In my experience, a lot of prejudiced people try to describe their prejudice as "preference". I guess word choices make all the difference.

Out of curiousity, would you classify a white man with a strong preference to say, latina women, over other ethnicities as racist? I've noticed there doesn't seem to be much outcry when someone declares a preference for different races. For example, most people don't appear to consider anything wrong with a white man saying he prefers the appearance of asian women whereas if he said he prefered the appearance of white women, that would be seen as racist.

In which case I would argue that most people are racist idiots. I've seen threads wherein (almost always young) guys brag about all the different ethnicities of girls they've dated, and somehow that's supposed to be a sign of their multicultural sensitivity. Someone who says shit like "I've kissed an Asian girl, and a Mexican girl, and a black girl..." or "I like Asian women more than white women" is clearly racist, although they themselves may be surprised to learn this.

If I were single, I'd date an woman of any color if I found her attractive.

When it was first shown over here, I fancied the ass off Kendra the Vampire Slayer, but while a hot girl will be hot no matter her race, I don't tend to see that many hot black women around here, not many black people at all, though, so that's probably why.

I don't know if on average there are less or more hot black women, I would need to travel to an area with similar amounts of different races to judge it.

When someone asks "do you like black women?" I immediately picture someone with really dark skin. Because in Spanish-speaking countries the brown tones are "mulato" or "moreno", not "negro".

I generally do not like the deepest black skin. I don't know why any more than I know why I don't like really large breasts. However, what usually turns me off from many black girls is not their skin colour but rather certain features that are more common to them. Primary among these is when the lower half of the face sticks out a bit more than average. Regardless of skin colour (though I have honestly never seen it in non-blacks, male or female), this is an initial turn-off. It's important to note the "initial", because if I get to know a girl better and her personality is appealing, I begin to find her physical features more and more beautiful.

Having said that, I add that two of my three favourite skin tones are dark. They're hard to describe, but I'll try since they're very specific. One reminds me of burnt wood, it's a sort of ashy tone that I've only seen in one or two girls. The other reminds me of milk chocolate, it's a bit more common. The third colour, the white one, reminds me of ivory* (softcore porn warning). As you can see it is not the whitest colour there is, the lightest ones remind me of ghosts or snow.

*Her name is not Ivory, her skin colour reminds me of carved elephant tusks.

That reminds me, has anyone noticed a distinct lack of good porn, soft or hard core, featuring darker women in the internet? Even taking into account that porn with dark women is rarer, as well as my slight bias against some of them, I find it very odd that all of it is shit. My school has a decent proportion of pretty girls with dark skin colour, why can't the bloody internet have at least half that? I have as many pictures of purple women as I do of black women (one of each), and the latter is in danger of deletion on account of anorexia. Maybe it's just bad luck...

Same here. Any of those chicks pictured above would be more in the mulato column in Brazil, but that comes a no surprise, of course. Not only I find any of them really hot, but I also had seen my share of several really dark-skinned woman that I would date in a heartbeat. One that I can remember right now was a girl that I saw when riding a bus in Philly, some years ago, and another just today, in a shopping mall. I've dated most white girls, but the skin tone is not really a deal breaker for me.

In America, "mulattoe" was what you called multiracial people. Specifically, black-white kids, usually those of the master and his female slave.

In Venezuela "negro" is a typical nickname for the darkest person in a given family. With "catire" (blond) being the nickname for the lightest member. Note that neither nickname is meant to be an insult, and both are used regardless of the person's actual skin or hair colour.

I just remembered a couple of phrases. Note that neither one is really meant to be insulting. I think they're derived from a popular song that encourages interracial marriage. For whites "leche con crema" (milk with cream), for blacks "noche sin luna" (moonless night).

Indeed, "mulato" is not derogatory in Portuguese as well, just a term to describe someone with a more brown tone of skin. A high percentage of the population have some part of black heritage in their families, even several people who can be considered as white; someone can even be from a family with all black parents and grandparents, but if the skin tone is more light, they can be considered as mulatos, even tough everyone knows their ethnic group is black. It is just a no-issue here regarding the terms used to describe the tone of skins.

Also, around here the term "negro" can be used without problem to define a black person or the black community as a whole, as it does not carry a bad connotation. Hell, several organizations of the black community use the word in their titles. The use of the Portuguese word for "black", "preto", is the one which is more derogatory if used with that intention on purpose.
