Anti Mech tank Prototype.

Post by TheMuffinKing »

This tank was specially developed to fight melee mechs on their terms...and to destroy them. The huge grapple arms can grab and crush, while brining the target to fatal copulation with the chainsaw turret. Oh and the chainsaw doubles as a rocket launched guided weapon with a range of 2000 meters. Oh yeah....

It has a coaxially mounted 7.62 mm machinegun and a pintle mounted .50 cal for the commander. This can of course be upgraded with a RWS along with a host of other upgrades.

Thanks! I'm trying to come up with a name, but I've only come up with these: Chainsaw sodomizer, Gundam Grappler rape-o-matic, grapple tank, Superarmhappymotorsawarmorcarriage...

Don't forget to use magic particles to render it immune to fire control somehow. That way they HAVE to get close. :D

It looks like something built in a desperate attempt to get some use out of captured/abandoned mechs, by combining their manipulator arms with an obsolete tank chassis and some heavy-duty forestry equipment.

For a custom built vehicle, I would suggest replacing the turret with two 20 foot diameter circular saws (stacked, counter-rotating, on a pivoting mount) - less mechanical complexity, less chance of the mecha outmaneuvering it and more stable in rocket-propelled mode. :)

Looks more of a threat to fun loving, innocent forests everywhere then mechs. Shit, I even think I saw this on captain planet once. :P

Hah, that reminds me of some robot design someone used on that show BattleBots or whatever it's called. He had pincers close on a bot while an electric saw would try to disable it.

Its nice, but a chainsaw is not the best weapon against mechs. I would have chosen a giant pick as they are better at dealing with armor.

I was originally going to mount an unobtanium spike to the turret, for both ramming and to have the manipulator arms drag the target towards impalement. This is probably the better of my ideas, but the thought of a rocket chainsaw makes my pants happy!

As in this device? I've seen the link posted on numerous forums, but I'm sure there are a few unfortunates who haven't witnessed its genius yet.

What's up with the arms anyway? Those seem suspiciously mecha-like.

They're from several commercial backhoes. The claws are unobwanktonium alloy, forges in the fires of the deepest planetary core HAB foundries and hammered out by the billion slave work teams of Chem Warfare Command.

Two sizes: the first hull is about the same size as an M-60 MBT, the second about the size of the NASA Shuttle crawler.

Usually HAB ultra-light units are sufficient to liquidate the mech threat; your transforming capships sometimes merit light units. But as you seem to be stubbornly continuing your ultimately useless resistance, I see we will have to step up to deploying some of our heavy units.

Jesus, that's got to be the lamest thing I've ever seen. I'll probably throw up if it moves like a normal human.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.
