Hypothetical situation

Having thought about it some more, even though such a perosn could not exist, if I did meet a girl who had matured ten years ahead of her time, I'd feel sorry for whatever she's had to go through to mature her that fast, and tell her to go hang out with some 13 year old friends.

If it had just aged her emotionally or physically, then she'd be in trouble.innerbrat wrote:Having thought about it some more, even though such a perosn could not exist, if I did meet a girl who had matured ten years ahead of her time, I'd feel sorry for whatever she's had to go through to mature her that fast, and tell her to go hang out with some 13 year old friends.
Body of a woman, but the mind of a child would result in her be taken advantage of. On the other hand, mind of a woman and the body of a child would result in Chibi Sue.
Either way, she'd couldn't fit in with either group very well.
But if it did both, then I'd suggest that it would be best for her to live as if she was 23.
Even though its an impossible scenario. I would just like to break the trend by saying that I WOULDN'T have a problem with fucking her (provided, I could get to know her better before hand.)
She has the mentality and maturity of a 23 year old (2 years older than me) as well as the physical body of a 23 year old so that makes it totally easy for me at least to look past her chronological age. If she didn't have the maturity or the body I obviously wouldn't do it, but because she does in this case, I don't have a problem with it because she is for all intensive purposes a 23 year old except for the fact she hasn't actually lived that long.
This is a case where our laws become pointless. Take Kes from Voyager for example. She was only a few years old and yet she had the physical and mental maturity of someone who was in her 20's. And yes I am aware she is an alien but thats irrelevant.

Yeah, actually Icehawk's argument does make sense. The laws are meant to protect the minor from being taking advantage of but if she has the brains/maturity of a 23 year old it does make the laws irrelevant. But then again, a 13 year old with the maturity/brains of a 23 year old is impossible considering that she'd still be in middle school so a impossible question is being asked.

I think you are sort of missing the point here....its more trying I think to illustrate the arbitrary nature of age as a defining factor of maturity.
Take for example the reverse situation, a 23 year old who had the body of a 13 year old and mental maturity to match.....with diminished faculty they then fall under the same protections that are granted to minors.....
But the reverse is not true.....
Personally I feel age is just a number....maturity counts for far more.
An old addage that I dont totally agree with (one just has to look at teenage preg. stats to figure why) but which this whole topic reminds me of :-
"Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed."

I think the fundamental flaw in this thread is rather simple. It's flat out impossible. A woman (or man) can simply not skip ahead ten years on the maturity scale, especially ten critical years. It's not possible and anyone that thinks it is possible is kidding themself.
Maturity is based a good deal of experience. A thirteen year old, not matter how outwardly mature could not possibly have that maturity. I wouldn't have sex with her or even consider it.

No one is saying that it's possible in the real world, but it is part of this purely hypothetical discussion. If you can't handle that, hit your back button.Stormbringer wrote:I think the fundamental flaw in this thread is rather simple. It's flat out impossible. I would also like to point out that a great many impossible things are discussed on this board, but I have yet to see you complain about that fact until now.

In this reversed situation, she would probably be diagnosed mentally ill, and would be protected under the mental health act.Keevan_Colton wrote:I think you are sort of missing the point here....its more trying I think to illustrate the arbitrary nature of age as a defining factor of maturity.

While obviously physically true, this is ethically a pile of crap - 20% of girls nowadays are having their periods before the age of 8. I say no. For several very important reasons.
1) I never sleep with a person unless i'm in love, thats why they call it making love.
2) I doubt i could have any thing in common with a 13yo to start a relationship with.
3) The whole age thing would put me off from the start, it's be in my head every time i spoke to her that here is a kid 9 yeard younger than me. and while i'm out working she'd be in school.
I prefer older partners anyway.

The only way this scenario could possibly work is if the subject in question is a clone/replicant/android/whatever that has undergone accelerated growth/mental imprinting or some other process, in which case while the physical body might only be thirteen years old, the actual person/entity would be twenty three. This being the case, the age of the body is irrelevant, as it would have to be artificial/artificially enhanced in the first place.
Basically, if you were a member of the United Federation of Planets, this would be a no-brainer. They routinely screw "newborns" every day. A thirteen year old body would be ancient given the widespread use of transporters.

People who commit or condone pedophilia were sometimes abused as children themselves. Just an observation.

Spanky's point is valid. Your condition said that you wouldn't get into legal trouble. Sleeping with a 13 year old is illegal (thankfully). For most people, your condition then means "you will not get caught." Doing something illegal means you are doing something counter to the collective ethics your society, regardless of whether you are caught.XaLEv wrote:Spanky, you shouldn't post if you don't grasp the conditions of the scenario.
Secondly, "legal trouble" is different than harm in general. Personally if it was my daugther, in a fit of rage I would probably hunt you down and castrate you with a rusty spoon. Your scenario made no mention of this.
There are plenty of people in this world who are 23 years old or older that I don't think are mature enough to handle sex, let alone people who appear to be that old.
So, no, I don't think I'll take this hypothetical bait.

It's not even physically true. Cause I doubt an 8 year old has the physical strength needed to carry a child to term.innerbrat wrote:While obviously physically true, this is ethically a pile of crap - 20% of girls nowadays are having their periods before the age of 8. Well, specifically the part where Harrison Ford's character and the replicant imprinted with a lifetime of memories get hot and heavy, though the replicant could easily be considered a child by the standards you're dictating here. The physical appearance of the body is not at all equal to the actual physical age of the body. In that case, the replicant had the mental "maturity" and development as a result of being a sort of mental photocopy of Tyrell's niece. The replicant looks, talks, and acts just like a grown woman, but her body is only a few years old.XaLEv wrote:No. I have not seen Blade Runner in a long time. Explain what you mean by this.
The long and short of it is, however, that if the girl has the mind of a 23 year old, then her mind must have been actually experiencing and living for twenty-three years, through imprinting, transferance, or some strange acceleration process. Thus, that person is 23 years old, despite the current age of her body.

I ask a simple question. Could she prove her mental ability in court?
If yes, then I would be willing to do it, though I wouldn't for personal reasons. (one girl I really really like, and even though I don't see her much I would be willing to do almost anything for her)
If no I would simply say "I would, I realy would, but it's against the law."

Exactly my stance on the subject. If someone is AS MATURE (of mind) AS THE LAW REQUIRES then the only thing that makes a child a child is cellular age. Funny how noone seems to grasp what I say on the subject and I end up pegged as a pedophile when I neither support or not the idea of pedophilia.
I argue that the freedom of the informed individual to choose his own destiny must not be withheld.

This isnt really about pedophillia at all, its about how do you decide what is mature and what is not when the most commonly used criteria are invalidated.
