The only thing you can do against them is just defend, defend, defend.........

The problem is defending doesn't win the game. Its appears that unless you have a Scrin on your team with those growth harvesters, you can't outfight them.
When the enemy's tib field runs out, hit them with commando-type attacks to vulnerable sides, using shadows, airlifted troops or commandos.
The only kinda infantry I can hope to get in is airlifted commandoes. I can't spare the Tib to airlift in tanks, and if I use vehicles, I'm essentially stuck in no man land playing a battle of maneveur.

If I give the AI anything close to normal numbers such as 3 v 3 or 2 v 2 or 1 v1. it becomes physically impossible to approach their base and once their superweapon gets charged................... That's the killer. Facing similar team numbers, I can't do enough damage before their superweapon gets charged.

I am currently finishing the Nod - campaign. I've just finished Operation Stiletto(very easy mission BTW) and I've played Nod a few time in Multiplayer. Maye it's just me but I think that Nod ist the strongest faction in C&C3. The have a great Airforce and two of the strongest rushes in the game (scorpion & shadow team rush).

Well........ for me I feel the Scrin is the strongest faction. They get to spam units faster, their airforce is FTW....... The problem is building a defence strong enough and an economy large enough to support you.

Which is another reason why I absolutely detest it when the Brutal AI rolls as a Scrin.

Cheap trick that helps against brutal. If they've got a superweapon nearing firing, wormhole an engineer next to it. There's a good chance they'll sell it.

Funny thing, i didn't realise wormholes worked both till some of my tripods i used to kill my opponents engineer he sent through accidently wandered into it. Cue mass destruction in the back of his base as he's going "WTF WTF WTF!?!?"

So. Croatia. Not too hard, easily completed the bonus objective, rotated damaged units off the defense lines to repair at the War Factory, built up a striking force, and hammered the southwestern base to scrap. All going according to plan. Then I pull that force back, repair and reinforce it, and send it off again. This time I raze the northeastern base. Again, all according to plan. But then I get around to rescuing the MCV comvoy, the convoy I'd been ignoring the whole time. No problem there, I had something like fifty armored units by then. So I escort it back to the base, plop down the MCV, and get the objectives to destroy the northeast and southeast bases. Problem: The northeast base is a pile of slowly-cooling wreckage already, and the objective isn't completed. Thank you, EA, and your relentlessly shitty QA.

The ramp up in enemy quality between Easy and Medium is way too steep in my opinion. Now granted I'm not a hard core RT strategist but I like to have fun and romp all over the Easy AI no problem. Sometimes I actually wall off the enemy bases, prune them with airstrikes and just spread all over the map creating minibases all over and then cackle with glee as I send in swarms of vehicles to mash the enemy bases.

But when I hit Medium difficulty...holy shit. Especially with the fucking Scrin. I've barely got my economy going and a decent first strike team when suddenly Scrin carriers and cruisers show up supported by a horde of tripods and attendent troops. WTF? Then I hear "Rift Generator online" and I know I'm in for a world of hurt.

And god should multiple forces decide to hit you exclusively then when you've barely fended off one swarm another swarm shows up from another direction it just sucks the fun out of the game.

BTW Rift generator definitely takes it for me as a superweapon. Once it hit me I never recovered and simply gave up when the next wave of doom approached.

There should be an intermediate step between pushover AI and Genghis fucking Khan.

You may want to experiment with the handicap functionality; a Medium AI with a 50% resource nerf should be a more reasonable opponent.

Are you playing on larger maps with multiple opponents or 1 v 1?

And as something to note: I finally beat the Brutal AI one on one..... whew........ that was a slugfest.Took out his initial assault force, sent in 2 Tripods, couple of light vehicles and disintergators/buzzers to clear a way for 2 warships to reach their tib field. Then I encamped there, dropped a lightning spike to defend the area, and used my warships to systematically bombard any harvester that comes around.

While the initial assault force got wiped out, I was able to use this downtime to get carriers and pump out more warships. Their missile strikes against my power plants as well as outflanking attacks momentarily set me back, but since the Obelisks were placed too interior to affect my ground units, I was able to systematically wipe out their factories and then swarm the area with ground/air units...
