Nine dragons MMORPG

Post by PainRack »

Hi, anyone here is playing this game called nine dragons?

http://9dragons.acclaim.com/

Its a martial arts based MMORPG, its free, and for a free game, the graphics are excellent.

The translation of the skills don't really work for me, but the very idea of being in Gai Pan or Jet Li as Wu Tang sucked me in.

I'm currently on the European server, Bardo.

I've been working on joining the Heavenly Demons all morning, I'm up to Path III how far do I have to go before I'm a full fledged HD?

You can start the first joining quest around level 18 AFAIK.

I think for Wu tang and Heavenly Demon, the Clan joining is at level 20 in addition to some extra specifics you have to meet. Wu Tang requires you to have learnt and advanced their two basic skills to Cheng two for example.

HD requires you to pass some kinda timed quest, but I'm not sure about the details.

You have to pass three pretests and a third hard ass test. The first is a timed one and you have to destroy these old tombstones and it's timed, the second requires you to kill a number of Bloodaxe Giants and get back to the quest giver in under ten minutes, and the last pretest is untimed, but you have to collect three small chests and five golden ones, I swear I was there for an hour.

You have to get five Bloodhorn Chimera horns in a certain amount of time and every hit they deal to you causes bleeding damages and makes me want to throw my computer out the window.

Lol. So there goes my basic levelling stragety of pumping nothing but str+dex.

Correcting myself here, it's not every hit, you just start the quest with bleeding damage, also, you'll be starting 2 levels below the Chimera's you need to kill, which are normal Bloodhorn Chimera's not Wild or Vicious Ones, when you first recieve the . Also, not each kill gives a horn, so it's random chance, I almost had it too, the when running to the Quest giver to finish it before time ran out, a Chimera get's off a lucky crit and nails me five meters from the finish... here's a suggestion, get Basic Demon Saber up as fast as possible and don't use anything but that and meditation for +2 Damage/+2 Defense, it's much faster than combining with Saber Shock (Save up for the Wolf Fang Sabers in Shi Zhang), also carry roast porks with you, and be ready to use Meditation to heal. Oh and finally, run to the rock island closest to the HD's bases main area, you can run towards the HDs base with Lightfoot and rest real fast. However, I'm sure the hassle is worth it, I'll get to use a sword AND fire, tell me that's not a win/win situation. :P Also, I have Strength (Raw Damage) Primary, Dex (Attack Speed) and Con (Health) Secondary (2 pts below Str), and Wisdom (I'm rasing this to a secondary since this controls the crit percentage, and the HD style is rediculously critical heavy (I can habitually go with a Critical Saber Shock, and a Basic Demon Blade Flourish as Crit, Normal, Crit, Normal, Repeat, and Essence (Controls Vitality or your ability to keep specials going) Tertiary as 2 points bellow Dex and Con. The primary difference between Wu Tang and Heavenly Demon is that Wu Tang are tanks and HD hit a tad bit harder and a shit load faster, or so has been my experience, I have two alts from my HD main a Wu-Tang Swordswoman and a Shaolin MArtial Arts Monk

Why does everyone say this? Unless Wu tang and HD get access to real fancy equipment, their skills are essentially the same as each other. In fact, they lack 1 kungfu buff of other warriors, which makes them a tad weaker, only compensated for by their superior Clan Epithet.

Other than the differences in weapons, which will affect speed and average damage, each clan are "normal" enough that it doesn't affect a thing save for PVP. And even there, its not going to be as important as sheer luck and tactics. I got involved with a duel against another beggar as well as an encounter with a HD in Bloody Pains. The other beggar died almost immediately because he opened up his attack with a charging skill, whereas I opened up immediately with a smash that decreased attack rating, followed up by a heavy smash and a few consecutive hits..... there he goes.

The HD got in lucky because I wasn't expecting a fight on Bloody Plains(yes, I was that dumb.) By the time I switched to Kung Fu mode, I already had half my HP gone and he could finish me by using a heavy smash attack.

And even here, its all about the stats build, whether your stats is str or dex........ Hybrids are the only class that seems wildly different amongst the various clans. The warriors and nukers are virtually identical with only minor differences in the buffers.

Fuck you Acclaim Staff! Tell me Fire Demons are a hybrid and take some from all the other roles and leave out any Saber capabilities! Now I have to reroll for a Blood Demon, damn I hate that Bloodhorn Chimera quest...

Well...... from what I seen, I do see hybrids using the basic sword attacks... Its just that you don't get the smashing and status skills that make warriors perfect for PVP. So..... either you can still play on, if you learn how to manipulate the keys so that you can constantly switch between a warrior/hybrid weapon for the various status effects.

Oh, I can use a Saber, but I may as well be using a Sword or a Polearm, the Fire Demons get the Bloody Hands style Kung Fu, so Fists is a better option, anyhow I've already rerolled and have a Blood Demon.

Edit: Also, do you know whether the Black Dragons' Scythes are polearms or another weapon?

HD can't learn the basic Clan sword attack? I thought all clans basic skill attacks can be learnt by all classes.

It's a hyperbole, but Fire Demons wielding Sabers are really gimping themselves, since they have much more powerful Fist Attacks.
