Sorry, what? How did I play it, then? It's the OS that handles the mouse, the game's got nothing to do with it.CaptHawkeye wrote:Just read the manual to Jedi Academy. Fucking lovely, the game doesn't support USB enabled mice. That's retarded beyond belief.
Are their any fixes available for this?
Which Star Wars mod/game do you like the most?

The Jedi Knight games were really good, but each one seemed to be lacking something. Funny enough, each happened to fix what was lacking before, yet drop something new. IMHO.
Dark Forces II, Jedi Knight was increadible. Yet the saber worked pretty much sucked. Hard as hell to fight and it felt clumbsy. Jedi Outcast definately fixed that in spades; yet in all those large zones, there were hardly any...npc's? That so filled the original and made it feel real and natural.
Academy pretty much was just an Outcast clone with new characters. Still fun though

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Back when I first played Outcast, I was actually somewhat surprised that there was no longer any Light/Dark path based on your actions, and that you couldn't "level up" your Force powers at your discretion.Knife wrote:The Jedi Knight games were really good, but each one seemed to be lacking something. Academy brought a bit of that back, but not quite as well. Without giving away spoilers to those who may want to give these games a shot after reading this thread, I'll just mention that Academy's Light/Dark branch depends entirely on one clearly defined choice you make late in the game.
Back in the original JK, meanwhile, your character's ultimate disposition depended on numerous minor choices or actions you take throughout the game.

According to some guys on Gamespot, Jedi Academy is a CPU intensive game, and won't share the extra CPU power for a USB mouse. My USB joystick played the game just fine.Bounty wrote:Sorry, what? Definately not. Even though it's old sprite-based tech now the friends and I still play it when we can get together. (Used to play it all the time.) It was also cheap-skate friendly because you could have three people to a single disk. Clone Campaigns helped a lot as well.Lord Pounder wrote: BTW am I the only one that liked Galactic Battle Grounds then?

Neither has Newtonian physics for spacecraft..

The ones that don't have artificial borders and play like StarFox. I'd like one where fighter durability (for all models) is more like in the movies, and capital ships behave the way they should.
Hell, no reason to make capital ships non-player conrollable.. I don't understand why such games have to be fighter-centric. It'll only take one player to "control" a capital ship, in the sense of telling it which targets to use which set of guns against, for example.. along with which way to turn, distribution of power, etc.

I'm still hoping Battlefront 3 grants us the ability to control ships in combat. But i'd love for Totally Games to bring back X-Wing and this time take into account realism.
Guess what Totally? The top speed of a Star Destroyer is not a crawl.
"lol, yes it is. It's a big ship!"
The same big ship that could actually run down the Millenium Falcon and a Corellion Corvette?
"...shut up!"
Damnet, I want to fly my Venator! And I don't want it to suck!

Well, the last Azzameen mission has the ISD have a speed of 60 (1/2 the Otana's speed with maintenance levels for lasers and shields when it follows you into an asteroid field!CaptHawkeye wrote:Guess what Totally? The top speed of a Star Destroyer is not a crawl.

And there's darksaber's site where you can modify the ship to go faster.
Ahh, hacking the game to allow you to fly cap ships. Great times.

All the SW games I like most lacked something that kept them from being perfect.
JO and JA storyline was incredibly bad. Luckily wonderful lightsaber combat made the game worth playing. But the telekinetic powers sucked. Seperating tk into push, pull and grip was stupid decision. And the fact that you can not tk all the wonderful objects, crates, fuel tanks etc lying around was a wasted oppurtunity. TK is a wonderful tool in a game and being able to use it freely would greatly improve the experience. Flinging objects and people around like Magneto would be kickass.
KoToR 1 had fantastic plot. However tbe D20 based combat is the worst fighting I saw in a game. I wish it was like Deus Ex which is a great example of a proper RPG for the PC rather than failed attempt to copy a board game on the PC. As a result KoToR was like a movie for me, fun to see the story first time but not worth a subsquent playing.
Republic Commando had excellent story, atompshere and wondeful combat. Unfortunately the game was very short and the levels were linear.
