computer upgrade question

Post by dragon »

Ok was thinking about putting a secondary graphics card as well as upgrading the ram but how do I figure out what I would be able to put into the machine as it is a few years old. I know it can't run PCI express. Its a dell 8300 P4 2.8GHz with 1.5 GB ram

If it doesn't have PCIe, then you're probably looking at a PCI card. This is less than ideal as the bandwidth to the card is seriously lacking compared to an AGP or PCIe card. You're better off replacing your current card than adding a PCI card.

Yes, quite a few PCI cards have dual ports. But whats stopping you from using your primary graphics card dual ports?
