Freaking Awesome Covers
So, I'm crusing along the information superhighway, and all of a sudden, I see a 90 year old man singing "My Generation." So I pull over and watch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqfFrCUrEbY&eurl= Check out grannies smashing guitars and a fairly awesome music video. And then post your own choice of awesome cover.
Seriously, even that video of Bush singing 'Sunday Bloody Sunday.'

I really enjoy Dope's cover of 'You Spin Me Round'. There are also several good ones on Nativity In Black.

Korn: "Word Up!" Live on Jimmy Kimmel Original song by Cameo.
I like the live version better than the regular video with the dogs.
Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus covered by Marilyn Manson.
Marilyn Manson doing the Eurthymics' Sweet Dreams. Kind of creepy.
and a rather enjoyable video for MM's version of Tainted Love. This is based on the Soft Cell version but apparently that's a cover too.

Cradle of Filth are more of a goth version of Girls Aloud, MM is more like a goth version of Eminem.

Faith No More's cover of War Pigs is one of the best.
This is from the "You Fat Bastards" concert at the Brixton Academy, London.
Faith No More also did a great cover of the Commodores "Easy"

Oh. Why the hell would someone do that? I admit, I didn't actually listen to the music. I saw the beginning of the video, and I thought "screw that, they lied, it's not actually CoB, I don't want to hear it". Bah, I'll give you false metaller *shakes fist* .

Metallica's cover of "Turn the Page" ranks among one of the best covers ever done.
Right up there with it in Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails. If you don't agree, here is what Trent Reznor said when he heard Cash's cover. "I pop the video in, and wow ... Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps ... Wow. I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore."
Also, Sad Kermit's cover of "Hurt" is just about as good as Cash's, in a different way.

Cash made other fantastic covers as well. I'm about the biggest Springsteen fanboy there is, but what Cash did with "Further on (up the road)" is fantastic- better than the original.
I also put forward Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah", originally by Leonard Cohen.

I like Motley Crue's cover of Helter Skelter much more than I like the original Beatles version.
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers' cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground kicks ass. It's also the reason I don't like Chilli Pepper's current tendnancy to do a bunch of slow songs.
Same song live on Late Night With David Letterman.
There also used to be a version of them doing the song live on Arsenio.
