Yes it is fugly; front fascia looks almost tacked on. But, I must say the styling cues look really good on the first production car to actually use them, the Ford Fusion
They sell two different cars under the same name now? Because the only Fusion I know is a lot smaller. That's got to be confusing in internal memos :P
Not really. It's not uncommon for American auto makers to use the same name for their European makes. The Fusion used to be pretty small over here too though, come to think of it...
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Ford originally wanted to call the North American sedan the Futura, but could not after losing trademark lawsuit with Pep Boys auto parts. Of course, those names were chosen during the time when Ford had the policy of giving all their cars names starting with "F" (thus limiting their options), which the new CEO Alan Mulally has thankfully put an end to.

Not really: Automakers don't refer to their cars internally by name, they use an alphanumeric code: For example, the North American Fusion is known internally as CD338, and the European Fusion is known as B226.

Er... I'm not aware of Ford ever selling another car called Fusion in North America prior to the current one.

I thought the Scion's box on wheels was the ugliest thing driven by a combustion engine I've ever seen but I take that back now. This thing is an affront to the senses and should be cleansed with fire.

With those rims it would be something you'd drive if you were a ricer that wasn't allowed near pointy objects and had to way a helmet everywhere.

I'm guessing the engineer was inspired after watching someone with Downs crash an Explorer into someone's Honda.

Sir, that is crude, tasteless and unsafe to those who have just taken a drink. :D

Needs a tissue...
