How accurate is that?, i bet its just some Christian propaganda bashing Mormonism. I've heard the Joseph Smith tale, but i didn't knew anything about Elohim the spirit child and all of that, specially the racism, is it really true?.

Mormonism is massively racist. For a long time they actually barred blacks from entry into the church, until the government threatened to take away their tax-exempt status. Try reading the Book of Mormon sometime; in it, all native Americans were actually white at one time, but they were cursed with dark skin after sinning against God. Some tribes which praised God were blessed with white skin again. In the Book of Mormon, your skin colour indicates your righteousness.

That is fucked up. Although it does make me wonder just how righteous the Mormons would consider me if I joined, what with having almost albino pale skin... "All hail the new Prophet! He has to be the Prophet, because he's pasty white!"

Ha! I remember this video being showed to us in high school. I have no doubt that mormonism is a stupid religion but seeing the dishonest tactics Christian fundies have used to promote their viewpoint, I've wondered how much validity that video had in portraying mormonism.

As for the stuff about becoming gods, so I've heard, that's sortof accurate, with the rest of us going to a lesser heaven, and the really bad going to hell. I have however, asked a Moromon missionary about this, and he didn't seem to know about some of it. So maybe it's just internet myth.

Much like scientology, it's no more stupid than other religions, it's just recent, which makes people more critical for some reason.

Exactly. With Christianity, Islam, Hinduism etc., we're somehow supposed to show them a degree of respect because they're been around a long time. Hey it's been around for 2,000 years, so when the retard evangelical jumps around like a monkey and claims to hear god's voice, he's somehow accepted by society instead of being thrown into a psychiatrist's for being crazy.

They're ALL crazy. Some may be a bit better than others, but they're all a bunch of screwballs who believe in a sky fairy. Scientology? Pfff... that's crazy! But the Baptist church, they're perfectly fine.

You could always dig up a copy of the book of Mormon and find out more for yourself. Course, since I typically make it a point to avoid Mormon doorknockers whenever possible, I can't say I've had much direct experience on the subject. . .though usually they go away when they approach me on the street.

Ugh...at least with the Torah and Christian Bible you can read it and think, "Well, it was translated from Hebrew/Greek...maybe it's less dull and awkward in the original text."

With the Book of Mormon it's just bad, it doesn't have that excuse.
