I.M.P.S. That Fan made movie about star wars

Post by fusion »

Has anyone seen it before? Is it good because I do not want to download a file that takes day just to see a bad movie.

Look at the date. It came out years ago. Of COURSE people have seen it. Why don't you share your impressions?

Sorry for the bad link:I.M.P.S.
The reason why I ask is, it would take a while for me to download it and I wanted to get some opinions before downloading.
Anyways, how do you get to the pics?

Yes, just a few days ago, I thought the thing just started, as I just was looking at the first few dates.

Holy crap really? The last one came out in 2004/2005 IIRC.

I think it was pretty neat. No EU fannishness, no inside 'look we're SW nerds woot' stuff, no wank wank wank wank wank. ALTHOUGH they did make up a deeply silly fleet they're supposed to be a part of... but that's only the intro.

It's pretty good as far as star wars fan movies go. I especially liked the intro. Acting, storyline etc won't tax your brain cells and some of the costuming seems to be spot-the-costume-from-another-movie but overall I'd say it's worth while.

IMPS is the best fan film there is, most of the effects in it are equal to the films and even the acting and plot are at professional levels. Its even funny in places as well to boot.

There is a bit with Aliens and Predators in it that is a little dumb/dull unless your into AvsP though.

100% worth the download.

I can't believe how excited I was when you said Chapter 2 had been released. All that hope and excitement!

No, it really hasn't, what are you on about?

I loved the first ep, but the slow production times are annoying, especially since they set a daft '1 ep every six months' target...

Wow! I hadn't watched the first episode of I.M.P.S. before, but that was impressive! One nitpick though, the AT-AT foot was way too small. :P

If I had a nit to pick it would be with the sound quality. While overall it was good, the music/background noise track is so loud that a lot of the time, I couldn't understand what people were saying. But otherwise, quite well done. I hadn't seen it before, either, and I must say I'm impressed.
And is it me or does the Stormtrooper armour in IMPS look bulkier than the movie suits?

'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'

Sadly enough, i have never seen this before. I'm disappointed in myself. I enjoyed it and it is well worth the download just to see the fan made special effects, which are quite impressive. The shot of the Gatling on the side of the AT-ST looked professional. Now I'm depressed they haven't come out with the second chapter.

On the mysterious brown powder from the ground. :P
Sorry I thought it said it is completed and I thought the 2 was a 5

But I finally downloaded and did some research!

It was good and I am with Batman.

When I saw it, I realized that lots of the soldier shots were originally real clips just mutated. I wonder how much they spent on props?

I think the armour looks bulky because they used bulky people...
That's another nitpick, in a Stormtrooper Corps which generally excludes women (very rare few exceptions like Daala), the Railrunners (a squad of 6) have two women... :/
Of which one really is too short for a stormtrooper... and possibly too wide too... :?

The music is absolutely brilliant though, the main theme is almost as good as anything produced for the Prequels, and the CGI is astounding. It's easy to forgive the production times when you consider the sheer amount of work and skill that goes into something like this, although it's still frustrating! Episode 2 is set to be snow-related, so that should be good.

Why is this a nitpick? The Empire tries to patrol an entire galaxy. It's not inconcievable there would be some female recruits if they were desperate in some sectors.

Peter Cullen is really not that high profile. You're looking at a guy who did voice work for some old cartoons and a bunch of pizza commercials.

Oh I agree that there are some female stormtroopers, they canonically exist, but they are very rare, on account of the only mention there is is Daala AFAIK. Of course, given the armour, I suppose you could reason that any number of the troopers in the films are female, but there's no proof of that. However, I think it's fair to say they're pretty damn rare, but this single squad of only 6 troopers has TWO. Also, I thought Stormtrooper training facilities were pretty centralised, like Carida, so technically units on the rim shouldn't be any different calibre-wise than ones in the core (save for elite units, naturally).

Nothing except the personal biases of various Imperial officials (or in Daala's case gross incompetence) prevents a woman from serving in the military. There is no official or legal basis for that kind of discrimination and sexism is not institutionalized within the Galactic Empire.

All in all, a great fan film. The fleet at the begining is a little goofy, but that's only a minor nitpick.
