Super Smash Bros Brawl site goes live
The new Super Smash Bros site just went live: http://www.smashbros.com/
Not a lot right now, just some new screenshots of one of the stages...but the Music page is amazing. There's a list of all the composers working on the game.
The list is quite telling; between Yoko Shimomura from Kingdom Hearts, and Nobou Uematsu from Final Fantasy making a track... (Nobou is not on the list for some reason, but he was confirmed a few months back and even released a track from the game).
Then there are several composers from Capcom/Clover, and Sega (NiGHTS, specifically).
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts character appear; or a Capcom character (Megaman?) or Sega (Sonic? Nights?).
The website promises daily weekday updates, so I'll be refreshing a lot

So now they're even referencing Smash Bros. as a series? I guess it is a Nintendo flagship title now. That new Menu 1 song from Melee sounds very nice. So far all the music I've heard from Brawl makes me hopeful. I look forward to hearing what all those composers can do to the Nintendo tunes.
Also, the new screenshots show a bit of interface. Apparently name and picture is near the percentages in this one. Looks decent.

My guess for the next update is Mario's character page. They'll be dangling new info in front of the fans for a long time with this one. Keep the hype strong. This could be fun to watch.

I don't see the point of super smash brothers brawl being on the wii (besides the graphics update) if we used the classic or gamecube controller with the game. Internet play. Besides, motion-sensitive controls likely wouldn't be responsive enough for the competitive gameplay that the Smash Bros. series encourages. That said, it'd be nice if they do support the Wii Remote and Nunchuk in addition to the preferred GameCube and Classic controllers. I'd play around with it a little, but would most likely end up using the traditional control methods (as would most, I assume).
Also, the site's been updated with some very basic info on Mario and Link, as well as new screenshots for both. Hopefully they can keep up this pace.

How much Smash Bros have you played? As an extremely experienced player, I can't imagine it working with the Wiimote sideways without being very dumbed down; 1 and 2 would be the special and normal attack, the lack of an analog stick means you can't differentiate between a slow and fast walk, and then we need buttons for grab, shield, and jump.

Regular attack: 1
Directional (control stick tilt in Melee) attack: D-pad + 1
Smash attack: tilt controller + D-pad + 1
It wouldn't be intuitive, and it might even be difficult at times if you have to quickly switch from tilting the controller or not tilting it, but it might be possible.
Using the Nunchuk and the Remote would be more useful. Either way, it'd be a good idea to give some kind of support to those control styles to make the game more accessible.
But for a game like Smash Bros., the classical controllers will most likely be the best choice for the speed and precision players need for the game. These would clearly be the recommended controllers.

It would be a godsend if they could allow me to use the DPad to move instead of the control stick. I find that little joystick control too messy for good play, and it ends up being way sloppier than I'd like. If they gave us DPad control as well it would make a huge step towards being a legitimate fighting game--which seems the direction they're going.Praxis wrote:I think the original statement that GameCube and Classic controller would be used makes the most sense.

How would that even work? The games use analog sensitivity not only to determine how fast you move but also what kind of attack you use and even (somewhat) what direction it goes in (such as a forward kick being slightly higher or lower depending on what direction the stick is held in). How would you differentiate between forward kick, dash kick, and smash kick? New info today, an item called the "Gooey Bomb"
There were a few pictures of Mario and Wario passing off the device, and one of it exploding on Wario.
The Gooey Bomb is a bomb that adheres to most things. It's an explosive encased in a gummy goo.
It's a little different from a Motion Sensing Bomb in the sense that it can attach itself not only to the terrain, but also to opponents.
When you hit someone with it...
It sticks to them! Get... GET IT OFF!
Then it explodes! Oh, the horror!
However, it's possible to get a Gooey Bomb that's stuck to you to stick to someone else.
Touching someone as you pass by may very well cause it to migrate when you least expect it!

Gooey Bomb. Could be fun, I like the bomb-tag part of it. Do not throw at Fox if you're playing Bowser (assuming he's back), he'll return it. By the way, on GameFAQs the origin of this item may have been found.

The protagonist in Kid Icarus. Pit's Sacred Bow of Palutena is actually two blades combined. He can separate them or unite them at will for use in battle.
The arrows Pit's bow unleashes shoot out like beams of light. Players can control the curves of their trajectories.
Hopefully he and Metaknight pan out with Link endurances but better speed.
