This is ridiculous. There is no 13 year old on this planet that has the emotional maturity of a 23 year and who is capable of making choices of such magnitude in a responsible, adult fashion. We're debating whether or not to have sex with a person that does not exist.XaLEv wrote:This thread reminded me of a thread I saw over at SPF, reproduced here:
Say you knew a girl, who is 13 years old, yet she has the body and maturity of a woman ten years older. She comes over to see you one day and asks you to have sex with her. Would you do it?
Remember that she has the physical and emotional maturity of a 23 year old woman. You will not 'damage' her by sleeping with her, and you will not get into any legal trouble.
Replace her with a male for those so inclined. I will answer later.
EDIT: Since it seems some people need to have their hands held...
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO CONSEQUENCES TO THIS OTHER THAN THOSE YOU IMPOSE ON YOURSELF. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL. YOU WILL NOT BE HUNTED DOWN BY HER PARENTS. THIS SCENARIO IS DESIGNED SO THAT THE ONLY BARRIER IS HER CHRONOLOGICAL AGE.

I'm beginning to wonder if you're just playing around. I mean, the attitude you expressed in that post fits the option you chose perfectly, and you would have to be pretty slow to miss the real meaning of that option. Especially if you had already read through the thread.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:How'd you guess?

He has a point, you know. If I ever see another thread with "Hypothetical Situation" in the title again it'll probably be too soon.XaLEv wrote:I'm beginning to wonder if you're just playing around. How long ago was that, and how come you're acting so immature now?kojikun wrote:When I was 13 I was more mature then most adults period. Hasty generalizations do not render your opinion true.

How exactly do people make such pronouncements? You're not exactly an objective source you know. Fuck I bet I thought I was pretty mature back then as well, doesn't mean that I was.kojikun wrote:When I was 13 I was more mature then most adults period. You may have had the veneer of maturity but the fact is it wasn't and couldn't have been there. You might have been mature for your age but you aren't an adult yet bucko. Maturity is a mindset not the facade.kojikun wrote:When I was 13 I was more mature then most adults period. Hasty generalizations do not render your opinion true.
Re: Hypothetical situation
Placing this situation in an immoral country/world where sex with 13 year olds is legal doesn't change my stance. Sex with 13 year olds is immoral. A society that allows adults to make personal judgements, specifically those that allow sex with 13 year olds will cause greater harm, harm that far outweighs any one *potential* benign encounter. Whatever I perceive to be her maturity is irrelevant compared to the greater social need to protect 13 year olds.XaLEv wrote: IT IS NOT ILLEGAL
For some realism, if I may add a similar, but true scenario:
You are driving a car. You approach a stop sign and notice that: there are no other cars on the road, there are no cops, there is nobody watching. In other words, you perceive that no immediate harm will result in ignoring the sign. Question: do you stop?
From personal experience, I will stop. I understand the danger of intersections and the need for caution. I do not want other drivers making similar and potentially false judgements on whether to ignore stop signs. Regardless of what I perceive to be the immediate truth of the situation, I am ethically bound to stop at this sign. Whatever pleasure I receive from going through this sign is irrelevant.
I consider the 13 year old in a similar manner. There is a similar potential for great harm, and a greater chance for false judgements. Regardless of whether I consider my judgement to be true, I am ethically bound to follow the law.... a decision made easier by the fact that I have no desire to perform such an act.

Categorical imperative. Good choice. It's a pretty good moral guide most of the time.Zoink wrote:For some realism, if I may add a similar, but true scenario:

Since this is a "hypothetical situation" with a "hypothetical girl", why people can't think of the possibility that the planet that this girl lives on has a year that is approximately 1.65 times the length of a year on Earth is beyond me.

[I appologize to everyone at the extremety of this post, but I have had enough, and this is the only way I can express what I truly feel.]
Fuck you, Kojikun.
Seriously: Fuck you and the dead horse you dragged into town behind you.
Your position of rationalising pedophilia is absolutely sickening. You have said that to you, the concept of a "child" doesn't exist, and that if a four-year-old child was "mature" enough, you would see nothing wrong with an adult having sex with them. This kind of "logic" is sickeningly insane, and I can only assume that you wholy support pedophilia, or possibly engage in it. Why else would someone rationalise-no, defend such a revolting position?
Your lack of morals and maliscious support for such a disgusting concept has lost all respect I could possibly have for you, even at the level of seeing you as a fellow human being.
To me you are now nothing more than a monster, and the level of my hatred for you is below contempt.
I hope you rot, you perverted bastard.

Anyhow, I'd do it. I agree with Arthur that this is a pretty pointless scenario. Seems to me that the only reason we put a societal limit on the age at which one is eligible for sex is to take into account physical and emotional immaturity.
In this scenario, she has the physical maturity, so that's no problem. And while 'emotional maturity' isn't really objective, we'll take it on good faith that she is emotionally mature.
So, in my book, she's legally consenting. And since she's offering, what kind of host would I be to decline?
And about the stop sign, when that situation pops up IRL, and it does, since I do a lot of driving in the wee hours of the morning, I usually slow, but don't stop. That's at a stop sign, at least. Stop lights I observe every time, regardless of the circumstances. Well, unless it's a right-hand turn on a red, in which case it's to be treated as a stop sign, and I don't come to a coplete stop.
EDIT: I don't know if this has been suggested, as I didn't read through the entire thread, but this would be a better scenario:
There's a 23 year-old with the emotional maturity of a 13-year old...and she wants you bad. Do you hit it? That's a much trickier question, and more realistic, as retards do exist IRL, while weird crazy growth-accelerated people don't, as far as I know.
