The Mike Wong that exists in DarkStar's brain is surprisingly a lot like DarkStar.
Seriously, he accuses Mike of doing things that he himself does, while refusing that he has done anything of the sort.
Right now I'm thinking that he might be projecting a significant amount of self-loathing onto his archrival Mike, instead of on himself.

Frankly, the WHOLE THING on Wong's morality is the most shameless ad hominem attack that I have ever seen. Even if you consider Wong's conduct to be TOTALLY reprehensible, it does not damage Mike's credibility in terms of debating one bit. It's just kind of sad that he would go to the trouble to nitpick something THAT irrelevent.

The thread title is wrong. It implies that Dorkstar was, at some point, not in the deep end. He has always been off the deep end. He has now sunk to the bottom and isn't coming up because he believes cannon evidence proves he can breathe underwater! And aren't most of his updates about Mike just one big Ad Homism (sp) attack?

I seriously think DarkStar has gone too far. It is one thing to do this as a hobby- we all do it for fun, laughs, bragging rights, whatever. It is nothing personal and if someone gets nasty, fine- they are not really judging the person, just the screenname.
But it's not like that with DarkStar. He burns with some sort of seething combination of jealousy and hatred for anyone who opposes his views. He takes this entire argument out of the realm of 'hobby' and past the kingdom of 'maniac obsession' to land firmly in the empire of 'serious psychological problem'.
What's more, he no longer cares about the issues at hand- the question of "Would the Empire kick the Federation's ass?" which is at heart a lighthearted question. Instead, he has taken every defeat as a serious personal insult. He is quite obviously consumed with some burning hatred for Wong, to the point in which he focuses on it to the exclusion of anything else.
What sates him? Not logical points, obviously. He doesn't even care about making arguments anymore, dismissing 90% of Ossus' rebuttal with a sentence. No, it is clear that he has latched on to two things: his hatred of Wong, and his deeply cherished posistion of 'Last True Defender of Trek'
Consider. This is obviously a lonely-or a least single-man. He is an unskilled phone monkey who has likely never completed a college education. He has to repeatedly see his points bashed in everyday by someone who is everything he is not- happily married, well-educated, successful, with the respect and admiration of a large number of netizens(this should not matter, as they are only netizens and not 'real' people in the sense that few of them will ever actually meet in person, but then again, we are speaking of a man who seriously wishes us to believe that it is possible to adapt to energy).
DarkStar, on the other hand, has only negative attention. Because he is incapable of admitting his flaws- or maybe just unwilling- and seems to have a deep-rooted pride complex. Therefor, what justifies his existance? The answer at once springs to mind: his self-vaunted posistion as 'Last True Defender of Trek'. Devoid of any serious real meaning, he must turn to something so trivial as that to justify himself to himself.
And therein lies the foundation of his Wall of Ignorance. He will not conceed as long as he needs that posistion to justify himself. If it does not exist, why bother? What is his purpose? There is none. And so matters will remain.
Fini.

I seriously doubt you will ever find them. There is no way we can find the spy. This is an OPEN BOARD. Everyone on the internet, except those few who have been banned, can see what's going on here. They don't even have to register.
Incidentally, I have absolutely no CLUE why Anderson thinks that Wong is personally responsible for looking at every single THREAD on this board and speaking what he wants to say on that thread. It's, frankly, ridiculous to expect such things from Mike.

What do you expect from DK? He HAD to attack Mike somehow, and at the same time appear that he IS the innocent victim...Master of Ossus wrote:There is no way we can find the spy. Of course, anyone with more than half a brain would see through his deceptions, but... (one never knows.)

Hemlock's mini-essay raises a question: What would happen if the WoI was destroyed and we finaly got Scoot to understand how wrong he is? (It is an unlikely event, I know.) Would he sit in his chair, rocking back and forth, drooling and mumbling? Would he try to commit suicide? Or would he go totally ape-shit, trying to kill and maim everything he could get his disgusting hands on?
Don't hate; appreciate!

More likely, if that happens, he won't care, because he'll have found some other object to give him meaning.

For a while I thought that DS was doing this to just get on our nerves, was a huge trek fan, but new the truth, so he just pissed us off. But really, lately he's just been proving to me he is truely a disturbed person.

It would be a great thing to do for the sake of humanity.....Uraniun235 wrote:What, you ran him over in your car?And finally, it is increasingly starting to look as if he has some sad obsession over me, even in matters completely unrelated to Star Wars or Star Trek. Look at http://www.st-v-sw.net/Wong.html, a page entitled "The Morality of Wong", in which he rants at length about an incident from my personal life in a [/i]grocery store parking lot[/i]. This boy desperately needs a life.
You know, his reaction really is just bizarre. Most people would have looked at what MOO did (yes, DS isn't most people thank god blah blah blah), and edited their page to refute his points or fix any valid holes (DS will never admit any valid holes blah blah blah). Instead he links right to it, essentially giving free advertising to his fuckups, and makes a huge stink over it.
I'd give more thought about what this says about his mental condition, but I don't fucking care.

I dont know if anyone else has mentioned this or brought it up (I typically don't follow the Darkstar debates), but reading Hemlock's essay got me thinking.
Not long ago we seemed to have similar problems with another person on this board (who was also from ASVS.) Someone who craved negative attention, and someone who got progressively more and more extreme as time passed.
Of course, I mean RayCav. Now I'm not insinuating that he IS Darkstar, or that he and Darkstar are cut from the same cloth. In most ways, he seems to be better than Darkie, and better thought of (for oen thing, most people seem inclined to feel pity for him, rather than the outright disgust or contempt that is often displayed for Darkstar.) RayCav is probably far better in most respects than Darkstar is.
But they do seem to share one trait - and that is both seem to not only crave attention, positive or negative, but they seem to thrive on it. They also seem to have displayed similar obsessive tendencies (I dont know if they were neccesarily over the same thing.. but you never know.) I swear I could remember RayCav getting more and more worse the greater the attention that was given to him. The same seems to be quite true of Darkstar.
I must say it - I do believe Darkstar has problems, and he is rather "unhealthy" in the same way RayCav can be. And likewise, he no doubt needs help.
I am a bit curious what some of you might thinka bout this (I am not sure I am entirely right, so feel free to poke holes in the theory) - but if I am right, I wonder how this might affect our perceptions and dealings with him?

My variation of Xaviar's Paradox
Darkstar's Paradox
Rule 1
Darkstar will post Kilobytage equaling 150% of the original post, but will never address any of the points made by the original.
Rule 2
Darkstar will always telegraph his fallacies ahead of time, but will never admit to any fallacies. Example he will say that the pervious poster was making an apeal to authority fallacy before launching an appeal to authority fallacy.

That, Spanky, is precisely what it is. The phenomenon is known in psychology as projection —the tendency of the subject to attribute his own faults, shortcomings, and moral defects upon the object of his obsession. Common to sociopaths in particular and the irresponsible in general, since it devolves upon the core inability of the subject to engage in any degree of self-examination or accept fault or even the possibility of fault or error.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:The Mike Wong that exists in DarkStar's brain is surprisingly a lot like DarkStar.

To be honest, with his obsessive tendencies, he could be stalker material, in my opinion.
