Under the right conditions, stalactites can form in the course of centuries, if not decades, insisde man-made stone structures.

While I'm stating the blindingly obvious, this child fails for many reasons, and his teacher should be washing dishes.
Creationists love to horrendously misrepresent what science says, and then declare that their strawman version of science fails. This is nothing unusual for them. These are the same fucktards who universally declare that carbon-dating is a fraud because it doesn't work on things that are millions of years old, as if it's supposed to.

Holy shit!
What's so amazing/surprising about Dooey Jo having a book of experiments :?

I have never in my experience heard anyone use the age of stalactites as a surrogate for the age of the earth. In they scheme of things they are fairly rare geological structures and largely not relevant to dating rocks. I suspect the only people who claim (and probably the only people who have ever claimed) stalactites are used as example of an old Earth evidence are creationists creating yet another of their strawmen of scientific arguments.

Hmm. I wonder what proportion of salt to water she used for this experiment? Of course it would only take a few hours or days if it were highly concentrated! There is not actually a whole lot of mineral content in the water on cave ceilings, compared to the ratio of salt to water she likely used. Hasn't it been scientifically proven that if a solution is more concentrated, the solute will separate from the solvent much more quickly? Not to mention that paper towels and sodium chloride are different from caves and limestone/calcium/whatever else is present in stalactites.

Dogs were domesticated before the world was created. There are plant networks older than the world. The Egyptians and the Chinese totally failed to notice a worldwide, 27 km deep flood. Roman historians totally failed to notice some guy performing miracles with thousands of followers all over the middle east.

Creationism and its incconcistencies with reality. Clearly, reality is quite mistaken.

Interesting factoid: I have brought up the varying degrees of erosion of mountain ranges (Appalachians vs Rockies) with every single YEC I have ever encountered in real-life, and quite a few of them ones I have encountered on-line. Not one has ever acknowledged that point. They just ignore it and spout their usual slogans about other points.

Every creationist in the world knows only about the various bits of trivia where science isn't absolutely flawless. Not a single one of them ever even tries to actually support creationism or answer criticisms. A few of them even try to attack such criticisms as "hatred" and "unfair", as if their "theory" should be immune from scrutiny while they sit there and nitpick science all day. They engage in pure hypocrisy and it doesn't phase them at all.

I remember one guy who I thought I'd backed into a corner with questions he clearly had no answer for. Then his face lit up as he obviously thought he'd come up with a devastating response. He looked at me smugly and said "If you want to know why God did it that way, you'll have to ask him. I'm only his messenger."

That's the kind of smug asshole non-response that you get from smarter fundies.

Crow T. Robot: Smart fundie? Isn't that an oxymoron?
Mike Nelson: Its some kind of moron.

Seriously, its just another way of saying "God works in mysterious ways" bullshit. I would have responded with "what kind of retard messenger only gets a small fraction of the message?"

Except when its been used to confirm the dates of older pieces of scripture. His excuse was that the methods used for the scriptures must of been different from the method used to get the age on other things

As we all well know, they either know nothing or care nothing (or both) about using rational thought and the scientific process to discover the truth.

They're only interested in enforcing belief (their own, and others') of a supernatural being that will protect and guide them, because they're so weak and pathetic that they're unable to live in harsh, harsh reality.

"Don't hate them, pity them" would be the right way to put it, if it wasn't for the fact that their ancient tribal mindset is having negative effects on human progress as a whole..

It is easier for their minds to believe in a fairy tale than to acknowledge reality.

It's shameful really. Too many people are too weakwilled.
