No Final Fantasy For Xbox 360[update]

No Final Fantasy For Xbox 360
Square Enix has nothing in the works.
by Anoop Gantayat

June 5, 2007 - Looking for more Final Fantasy following the Xbox 360 port of Final Fantasy XI? Then you're going to have to look to a different next generation system. A Square Enix executive has disclosed to Japan's Nikkei BP that the company currently has no plans for Final Fantasy games on the 360.

Noting that the PS3 is getting Final Fantasy XIII, the website asked Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto if the Wii or Xbox 360 will also be getting games in the series. "For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production," replied Hashimoto. "As for FF on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page."

Strong words from Hashimoto, although perhaps if everyone goes out and buys Last Remnant (that includes you!), Square Enix will have a change of heart.

I'm curious if the installed PS3 user base will be enough for FF13 to sell as well as FF12 did.

If it sells badly, Square Enix might be forced to make a 360 port.

But the story will be so different! Aren't you dying to hear about young blond hero's struggle against evil leader's vile plots? About the complex romance between him and childhood friend/first quiet female? The gut-busting hilarity of token large character trading jabs with secretive loner special character?

And then, the secret twist--which I won't reveal, but I have to say, you'll never see it coming. It definately doesn't have to do with a hidden past, a lost lineage, or a secret bloodline.

Oh, it's going to be a blast, Stark. And screw you for missing it. None of the other 12 will have anything on it.

What's ironic here is that Final Fantasy XIII actually does look like it will be remarkably different to the other Final Fantasy games. :D The heroine is still blonde though.

I predict that XIII is probably going to be the worst-selling FF game yet, despite the shots so far looking very cool.

I have to say, at times like this I regret that none of my friends are particularly stupid-- if any of them had been dumb enough to drop the cash on PS3, I might get to play this game before 5 years are up.

Their insistance on making two versions of FFXIII (because Nomura MUST have his bishounen hero) is going to torpedo sales right off the bat.
Few people are going to pony up for two games at once.

Oh come on, the FF games aren't that formulaic.

I mean, that guy in FFVIII had BROWN hair!

BROWN!

And the villian! He was blonde!

Anybody remember the hair color of the bad guy in 9?

I think it was purple. I'm not sure, because his child-bearing hips kept freaking me out, so I would keep on turning away.

That is a girl, right? That's a question I have to ask often when it comes to FF games.

Sadly, I have friends willing to buy a PS3 just for FF13. Ugh. Some don't have the money and will just have to wait, but they will eventually get one just for this one game.

And it's way worse in Japan. People forget the strength of the FF brand in Japan, it outsells EVERYTHING except Dragon Quest. It is probably the PS3's most important exclusive in Japan.

Apparently no...

I'd say this is the reason for Square to say they have no plans for the 360 even when they might be - to avoid a shitstorm from Sony too early.
It's not the first time they've stuck a knife in the back of a major console developer because they were being retarded. Remember when FFVII shifted from Nintendo to Sony?

Wow.

That is not a man. That is either a woman or a hermaphrodite.

Incredibly common in Japanese art. I take it you don't watch much in the way of anime?

To be fair, Kuja's a fairly extreme take on the whole idea. He wouldn't look out of place in Bangkok, for example.

Kuja really does look like a man who looks like a woman; as opposed to actually looking like a girl despite being male.

Aaah, glorious Japanese art styles :). I love Final Fantasy.
"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

There's not much to take seriously in a person whose reaction to his own incipient mortality is to blow up the world.

In the Japanese Version, it's a girl. In America, they made her a guy
