Doctor Who Season 3 on SciFi
Doctor Who Season 3 is coming to SciFi. First Solid State Society, now a third round of the Doctor. Sci-Fi just might be moving in a non-suck direction!

Pfft. They're going to milk the Stargate franchise dry for years to come, they're losing neoBSG and possibly acquiring a soap opera in its place, they'll probably just keep shitting out their godawful shovelware "horror" flicks so the executives can bang new talent... no, just because Sci-Fi is buying the rights to show a TV series that someone else was helpful enough to fund and make doesn't inspire me with any confidence that the Sci-Fi Channel is heading anywhere but the same godawful quagmire of cherry-topped shit they've been in for years.

I don't really think showing one movie really counts as that much of an improvement, particularly considering that the rest of Ani-Monday's programming is going to be provided by only Manga Entertainment.Stormbringer wrote:First Solid State Society, [snip] Sci-Fi just might be moving in a non-suck direction!

You realize that I have a casual loathing for much of neoBSG, and am largely indifferent to MacGuyver in Space and Wishes He Was MacGuyver in Space. So there hasn't been anything of a must watch on scifi since Farscape.
The fact that Scifi is now airing Doctor Who, for those of us that haven't just swiped it off torrents or had the benefit of CBC on our basic cable, is good enough for me. I'm a bit surprised that Adult Swim didn't snag GitS, but they've been ditching top-notch anime. Call me a happy camper because I'd trade SG1, nBSg, and Atlantis all for the Doctor.

Okay, that makes sense. It just struck me as a little odd that you seemed to be making what seemed like a tremendously big deal of it.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to say that your view of Doctor Who being the only good show in a sea of lamesauce only further confirms my assertion that Sci-Fi Channel is firmly rooted in a cherry-topped quagmire of shit.Stormbringer wrote:You realize that I have a casual loathing for much of neoBSG, and am largely indifferent to MacGuyver in Space and Wishes He Was MacGuyver in Space. (And, yeah, I'm pretty indifferent to MacGuyver in Space too, but I figured if I didn't mention it someone would jump up my ass about it.)

Wait, there are other people indifferent to MacGyver in Space on SDN?
In AU the scifi channel is a fucking disgrace - and in AU, nothing from Britain is on scifi. Thats right, Red Dwarf and Doctor Who are on UKTV... with Cononation Street and Some Policeman Catches People While Being British.

Of course, for this reason (and a few others actually), UKTV was the shit when my Dad had pay-tv.Stark wrote:Thats right, Red Dwarf and Doctor Who are on UKTV... with Cononation Street and Some Policeman Catches People While Being British.

To me it is. I haven't torrented Season 3 and I had caught the first two seasons more or less as they broadcast.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Okay, that makes sense. It just struck me as a little odd that you seemed to be making what seemed like a tremendously big deal of it.
Furthermore, the last time around Sci-Fi picked up Doctor Who as filler, and did it fairly late in the game. Now it sounds like they plan on getting and airing it as a staple program and in a timely fashion. For me, that's something of a big deal.
I can't speak to anyone else. But I've never been terribly taken with the show. I've caught it every now and then when it's been light and noise. But I've never been one to watch it regularly or even follow the developments much.Stark wrote:Wait, there are other people indifferent to MacGyver in Space on SDN?

Over here, UKTV tends to have a lot of non-shitty stuff on their Gold channels at least, though it's all stuff the Beeb had long before like Spooks and My Family.Stark wrote:Wait, there are other people indifferent to MacGyver in Space on SDN?

Good to see Sci-Fi still picking up DW in a decent amount of time. No GitS:SSS here, but then our Sci-Fi is shite (Heroes the only thing new worth seeing). Then we get the DVD here in August anyway.
I will point out that SciFi Channel did get a winner with The Dresden Files
