As far as I know that's just an internet myth.

Square Enix has nothing in the works.
That's pretty much SOP for them then, isn't it?

Oh sure, they only have like a dozen games being worked on for the FF franchise alone right now.

It's a joke mocking their quality rather than their quantity. :P

Hideo Kojima is working on a special edition for the 360: MGS 4: So Very Tired. Extra content includes Snake needing to take heart pills once in a while, Pensioner Mode, where Snake must cash in his old age benefits and Back in My Day Mode where Snake hunts down Raiden and tells him about the good old days.

Here we go again.
Will the gas station near work ever have fresh donuts? Are Jim and Pam really together this time? Are Final Fantasy games ever going to come to the 360? These are just some of the questions that keep us awake at night. Even though mass speculation erupted over the "blank page" quote about Square-Enix's plans on the 360, its such a wishy-washy thing to say that you can't take it as evidence either way, other than the company probably does not have a project in the works at this exact moment. All the buzz got to Square-Enix though, which further explained the quote to GamesIndustry. Don't get excited, nothing is made any clearer:

However, a spokesperson for Square Enix told GamesIndustry.biz, "Hashimoto-san was talking about the current situation"—which would suggest his comments shouldn't be interpreted as forward-looking.

Thanks guys. I'm sure the forums will further explode with people claiming this is rock-solid proof that every Final Fantasy game is/isn't coming to Microsoft's system, and Michael Pachter once again flipped his magical coin to weigh in and say it's unlikely Final Fantasy is coming to the 360.

What's debatable is how important these titles actually are; it's clear that they would help Microsoft make some headway into Japan, but how much? Would Final Fantasy really influence that many people that pick up the 360? It seems almost like the Final Fantasy games are a talking point more than a real stumbling block in either market: it's going to be hard to convince Japanese gamers to buy a Microsoft system when the game is also available on the PlayStation 3, and I doubt a Final Fantasy game will ever be a 360 exclusive.

If I worked for Square-Enix I would be terrified to open my mouth at this point: every little remark is analyzed and over-thought until the issue seems huge and all encompassing.

Incredibly insightful for Ars Technica.

Apparently no...
In the Japanese Version, it's a girl. In America, they made her a guy

Wait. We're talking about FF13? With the main character using that submachinegun/sword through a subway full of armed guards or something? That's a girl. Unless something has changed in the last couple of months on their drawing board.

And goddess, on another note... Vann or whatever the FF12 guy is named still looks like Tidus, but more inbred and too much of a hick to put on a shirt.

Yeah, but wasn't Tidus the drownball champion?

Tevar's post was talking about Kuja from FFIX iirc. . . .

One of the nice things about FFXII is that while the main character is still lame as hell, you're not required to have him in your party AT ALL TIMES. There are even a couple hunts where you can't have him in your party. And while "running through town mode" still defaults to Vaan, a lot of the NPC conversations wouldn't make sense otherwise. And he's still eight quadrillion times less annoying than Tidus; although that's not exactly saying much.

And Kuja is a man. The gender swap myth is just that: A myth. Only in Bizzaro-World would a woman in the Japanese version become a bishie in the American release. I would expect just the opposite, in fact.

I actually don't find Vaan all that annoying. It might just be that after being forced to endure a hundred hours of Tidus anything is tolerable, but he seems far more with it. The world needs saving and he's getting on and doing it, not whining and moaning about it.
