Bigger? I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's pretty much scaled straight from SMS.

I think they're just using tighter shots.

No information today, just a song.

A new arrangement for the ending theme to Yoshi's Story. It's pretty catchy.

Pokeball stuff today

Goldeen and Chikorita are confirmed to return, and Groudon has been added.

Linked to pictures this time, is that preferable? I tried to get fontcoloring to work, but it didn't seem to want to go.
When you throw a Poké Ball in Smash, a Pokémon
of some sort will appear and come to your aid.

Pick up and throw the Poké Ball…

A Pokémon appears!

Then it attacks anything in its path!

Mmm. They’re quite reliable. But you never know which Pokémon is inside a Poké Ball.

Of course, having this particular Pokémon appear at the most critical of times is in keeping with Murphy’s Law.

Goldeen, Goldeen, Goldeen, Goldeen, Goldeen…

Groudon

This is the Pokémon that appeared on the packaging for Pokémon Ruby. Its bright red body is quite striking.

Groudon appears!

It… It’s HUGE!

It's always hot to the touch.

It won’t harm the player who called it, though, so use that to your advantage.

Hot! Hot! HOTTT!
These pictures show a Pokemon Stadium stage much like the one from Melee, probably complete with environmental shifts since the platforms seem to be retracted in the second Groudon picture.

I still think it's a shame they selected Goldeen over Magikarp for "useless flopping"

New update:
The Nintendo Wii really is a versatile piece of hardware.
I mean, when it comes to controllers, there are pretty much four different types.

I guess I have no choice but implement them all!

(Images of Wii Remote (turned on its side), Wii Remote + Nunchuk, Classic Controller, GameCube Controller, each with "COMPATIBLE!" underneath.)

There’s no need to be confused about what does what—just choose the play style you prefer!

I suppose I would recommend the Nintendo GameCube controller, though. I like the feel of that powerful rumble.

Still, try out the other controls—they definitely give you a fresh experience.

Hmm? How do you do smashes and dashes with just the Wii Remote?
If I get the chance to tell you, I will.
This should keep everyone happy.
Later...

I'm an old-school Pokemon anime fan. Magikarp to me would have to be "Flops around uselessly, but evolves into Gyarados and blasts the hell out of whoever was stupid enough to hit it."

In a move that suggests far more than it's saying, they have a new music piece up:

Ridley's Boss Theme from the Metroid series.

interesting. There'd been speculation for a while that Ridley would make it in, this probably furthers the theory.

Ridley will either be a playable character, a boss a la Metal Mario in the original or Master Hand, or a feature in a stage (like Kraid in Melee).

Unfortunately, I suspect the latter, but I hope for one of the first two. Honestly, he's probably too big for a playable character; that would be like having Ganon playable instead of Ganondorf. But he'd be a cool boss when fighting through Classic mode (so would Ganon).

Ridley is an unlikely playble character due to proportions, and while its possible that it may have a Metal Mario like role, I think its far more likely that Ridley will have a role in the game more akin to that of Kraid. Barely a step up from a cameo.

Although it would be interesting having a unique boss for each playable character rather than the Master Hand.

Compare Super Mario 64 Bowser and Super Mario Sunshine Bowser to Melee Bowser. The two former are several times larger than Mario. The latter is just a little bigger, but not even double size.

Scale isn't an issue in Smash Bros. If Ridley is playable in the game, he'll be scaled down to "slightly bigger than Samus" size. One thing does count in his favor, he can easily find enough moves to fill out several potential movesets. A heavy character with multiple jumps could be interesting to play.

Ridley was also, iirc, the same size as Samus in the original Metroid, as well as the opening sequence to Melee.

He wasn't quite the same size in the Melee opening, but he wasn't an absolute giant (roughly Bowser's size, or a little bigger).

EDIT: By that I mean Bowser as he appears in Melee. Bowser has appeared as much as twenty feet tall, on occasion.

This is kinda cute.

They've made it so that the crates and barrels change in appearance depending on the stage they're in.

Image
A crate and barrel in Fox's stage

Image
Mario's not exactly playing Santa here on Yoshi's Island.

Also, they've added sliding crates. Observe:

Image
Samus smacks a crate to bust it just as Pikachu drops onto it.

Image
Instead of breaking it, She ends up sending the crate(and Pikachu) sliding right into Wario.

Sliding crates will be interesting, though the aesthetic changes are a nice touch.

The going theory seemed to be that Zero-suit Samus was a "transformation," I wonder if that's still HAL's intention.

These Final Smash attacks are basically distilled badass. I can't wait to try them out on unsuspecting foes. :D

Intresting Starfox stuff these past few days:

Lyat Cruise is Fox's level. It takes place on the back of a ship called the Pleiades, as it travels through an asteroid field, into and out of a planet's atmosphere, and through a big-ass space battle. Definitely one of those "See what the Wii can do" moments.

Also, some info on Fox's gear. His reflector is now mounted on his belt, and his blaster looks nice. Looks like it keeps it's characteristics from Melee, though.

And if you look down, you'll see that even Pikachu's Final Smash is badass.

Also, nice shot of Samus' back. Looks like the pink thing on the back of her Zero Suit is a connection for the Power Suit(she has a similar one on her hand, too).
