Had a notable feud going on with Kevin Smith because Smith's film Mallrats stated that Stan Lee was the sole creator of the Marvel Universe. Ross stated that he feels that Jack Kirby should have half the credit. This feud was referenced in the DVD for Mallrats.
I hate Kevin Smith. Awesome.

Great, classic picture. He somehow manages to capture classic Batman and Robin, without all the corniness that goes along with it.

HA! Nice!

I like this one a lot too, for some reason...

The only problem is that if you want to buy his pieces, you need lots and lots of $$$.

I saw the Gatchaman stuff on his site, and I was all 'wait, hold on. Is that GATCHAMAN? WHAT THE?'

His art is awesome: things like Kingdom Come owe a lot of their success to Ross' art. Turns out superheroes don't have to be 2m-wide roid-monkeys after all - their appearance can even tell a story beyond 'zomg tuff'.

I'd have to say, then, that you need to pick up Kingdom Come, which is the only Superman comic/trade I will ever own. Unless something equally awesome comes along.

which I doubt.

I guess you're talking to someone else? I already own Absolute Kingdom Come. That's why I was just gushing about it. :)

I'm guessing I was talking to Superman. I was gushing about Kingdom Come, also, and, well, I wasn't really aiming at anyone in specific.

Fantastic, really. Alex Ross has a certain quality to his work which I really like.

He claims to have been heavily influenced by Norman Rockwell, and it shows.

And yes, Kingdom Come, to me, is hands down the best overall comic ever produced. Pure awesomeness.

I always forget how absolutely awesome Ross is until I see his work. Not a better artist in the business IMO, though several come close.

Man, those are awesome. Fuck the crappy uber-masculated shiny glossy-looking art so prevalent in comics nowadays.
