You want to have relations with aliens? I think you're on the wrong board.

But yes, let's discuss! I'm not going to be a filthy stinking human, so I'm going to be part of the Crazyass Alien Group myself.

Actually, in all seriousness I should point out that the Terran thread is not about alliances; rather, it's about writing up a cohesive backstory for Earth and ironing out where everyone's borders will be. I for one don't intend on allying with any terrestrial nations on a permanent basis at this time, and it would be a tragic mistake to see Terra as a power bloc.

That, or a truly awesome mistake to make, allowing me to declare war on all of you at once because you all look the same.

Really I would hope this would serve the same purpose.. Those powers that have had no direct contact with humans still would have thier own histories that might play an important role in the game.

At least it would be a brief mistake :P

I will now politely leave all you bug-eyed monsters to chit-chat with each other in whatever disgusting fashion you desire.

We are merely exchanging long protein strands. If you can think of a better way, I'd like to hear it.

EDIT: So we have only one robot empire so far? Good, I don't have to go with plan B.

I have a question: does Microsoft's AI consider itself human? Or at least more human than alien?

The Chamaran Kingdom will probably start making first contact with people soon after the game begins.

While that is an excellent question, the communication protocol you have employed to ask it violates sixteen distinct software patents. As such, you ar ordered to surrender yourself to a full SPEI auditor battlegroup.

Is it actually possible to license these patents under any terms other than subjugation (i.e. can the SPEI actually enter alliances)? Or is it doomed to take on the entire galaxy and lose?

So where do I fall exactly? Because while my guys are nominally human, they are now fairly well tinkered with and having lived several millenia in a multi-species star-nation they're not really concerned with 'Johnny come lately apes' either.

While originally derived from humanity and quite interested in them, my species also has some rather alien characteristics and thought patterns. Any non-evil hiveminds we could talk to on fairly decent terms I expect. Anyone interested in talking with us?

Just so this thread doesn't go to waste, why don't we make it the diplomacy/logistics thread?

Sooner or later. That's usually one of the things that comes after people have established at least a semblance of the order of the galaxy. At least that's how it's been done before.
