Predominantly US Marines or British SAS. At one point you play a "revolutionary".

What? No Russians? Fuck off, I'm not buying it.

Looks gorgeous, sounds awesome, but again, no russians? I'm disappointed...

Multiplayer stuff looks really interesting. "Last stand" eh? Cool.

The game looks stunning. The images at Gamespot are of better quality.

Bah! I wanted a Causcaus campaign as Russians!

Then again - maybe they'll be in MP? I wonder if there will be a "car bomber" class in MP...

According to my PC Gamer (US) article on the game, one of the MP perks will be "martyr" which unsurprisingly turns one into a suicide bomber.

Aw man. No Red Army. Although, it does say that we'll travel around the Eastern Bloc. So maybe.

Perhaps if we email our discontent the devs will repent and include a proper Soviet campaign?

Based on details from the IGN version (clarifying what I'd previously heard), though, am I correct in assuming that "Last Stand" means that (I guess unless headshotted) a player will be given a pistol, even if they didn't choose it for equipment, and will die either when hit again or after the last bullet is out?

What is with the Russian fetish? :? It seems to me silly not to get the game cause it doesn't appear to have Russians but... okay, I've heard stranger I suppose.
There will be plenty of Russian weapons no doubt, in the hands of whatever OPFOR there is.

That's...odd. Maybe GameInformer is full of shit but their CoD4 cover story made a point of saying there were missions where you play as Russian loyalists.

Cool, we finally are getting some British factions in these damns games. It usually always the 101st or other assorted Yank regiments.

Maybe you can change the name to be the 95th Rifles? :P

I'd rather say that IGN was full of shit. It's a staple of CoD: US, British, Russian. Period. It's just not right having it any other way.

I don't like the idea of a Russian "civil war" on principle, but stranger things have happened, and as long as I get to use an AN-94 or failing that a trusty AK-74M, I don't care.

According to most of the previews, the Russian leader, who is fermenting trouble in the ME, is some megalomaniac who is clearly a neocon caricature of Putin.

Seriously, what's with all the Russophobia in the FPS games? We've got COD4, Frontlines Fuel of War and Endwar.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

I'm sorry, unless you own more Call of Duty games than I do, you get out. :P

Okay, I can understand the particular fascination with Russians after thinking about it some, but then everyone must realize that the CoD's have always been 'good-guy-centric' and that that basically means any modern CoD wouldn't feature Russians prominently. I surmised that and so shrugged at the loss.

I own CoD, CoD:UO (both on steam), CoD2 (boxed for PC), CoD2 (again - this time on steam rather than boxed) and CoD3 for Wii (horrible).

I want a CoD from the bad-guys P.o.V! Insurgency/Russkies would be a great change!

You were under the impression that the Russians in CoD were "good guys"? Did you miss the Enemy at the Gates first level?

I wouldn't call it "fascination" but merely the fact that I'm sick and tired of games featuring wars on terror against "Kreplakistan". I want WW3: outright invasion of Russia, China and USA depending on which side you play and fighting on the streets of war ravaged Beijing, Moscow and Washington.
But if the forces of evil should rise again, to cast a shadow on the heart of the city.

Been there, done that. It was called "Red Alert 2"...

Oh, you meant an FPS? :) In which case, I have to agree - but hey, at least it's not World War 2, again.
I do know how to spell
AniThyng is merely the name I gave to what became my favourite Baldur's Gate II mage character :P

I got CoD, CoD:UO, CoD2 myself, all boxed. (haven't fucked with 3 as it's console only so that's a glorious maximum of 16 player online support for X360 ) Actually though, the 1st one I got was CoD: Finest Hour for PS2 and I actually played this a bit online until I got the PC version and sold it.

No I didn't and they are fighting the Nazi's, aren't they? I just get the feel CoD's about good versus evil and necessarily western-centric cause of the core audience.

Quoted for truth.. When I first saw the CoD4 name i had to groan.. ww2 has been done to deaht.. we're getting the video game version of MASH.. the games last longer than the war.

And we've had enough dicking around with middle east deserts and euro-alliance vs soviet horde... the side's can stay and with a bit of trickory the maps can too but where's the euro-alliance mass invasion of the USA ... ala this

Sure, you go and play the pure shit that was MoH:PA. I'll go and play something that was actually fun and ran like something other than an arthritic two-legged dog.

Bah, Russians. Running around with their stupid AKs and stuff.

Why not become creative? Give us Germans! You fought them throughout the last three CoD games, now they can be the good guys, too!

Or Poles. Yeah, I'd like Poles ;)
