There has been quite a bit of foreshadowing about UNIT.
However, someone will have to clue me in on the 'become not a Time Lord and thus somehow be immune to whatever killed them'. I know it's just to get around the 'feels like there's noone' thing, but the Master wouldn't have been on Gallifrey anyway.
The Time War is a big hazy mysterious unknown; perhaps the Master was hiding from the Daleks, who could follow a Time Lord anywhere through time and space Family of Blood style. Maybe there was some gigantic time-traveller disintegration ray pointed at all of creation, SG1-and-the-replicators style. Who knows?

They can pull an explanation out of their asses, rest assured.

Um, no shit? I'm pointing out we've got 3rd Doctor style Master vs UNIT shit again. What's YOUR point?

Yes, and the more stupid shit they have to invent the weaker it is. Sorry, if the Time Lords are all gone due to being 'edited to extinction', the Master should also be affected. If their planet just exploded, then it's not surprising at all that the Master survived, and the watch is just a workaround for the Doctor believing he's alone for so long. Clue for the clueless: this doesn't mean I'm unhappy the Master returned.

Course, how the FUCK the Face of Stupid Shit even KNEW is a whole different crock of shit.

Best part: the Master laughingly defeating the Doctor's remote-return system. 'Oh no you don't' INDEED. :)

My own guess is that when the Time War began all Time Lords in the universe were drafted in to fight, so if The Master had been a Time Lord he would have been at the final battle if not killed already.

Course, even if I'm right about that, it still leaves the question of how he got out of the Eye to begin with.

You know, with all the time-travelling wallawalladingdong going on, why can't this be an earlier regeneration of the Master? It'd explain the regeneration and why he isn't in the Eye.

The Time Lords are pretty hopeless at forcing the Master to do jack shit. It'll be interesting in the next ep to see how much the Master knows: he may have never even HEARD of the Time War.

He decided the movie could suck my cock and ignored it? Huzzah, the Master gets my vote of PM of the World. :)

This whole 'new Time Lord empire' stuff sounds pretty fucking lame, however.

Of course, it's pretty easy to see how they're going to get out off the Planet. Captain Jack's wrist ... thingy.

I have wondered if they were actually using the Movie as part of continuity and while not using it explains The Master not being in it, using it gives us the Doctors reasoning to say sorry to him.

I decided to avoid the preview for next week, so I think its time I stop reading this thread before any more is mentioned about it.

According to The Master's Wiki page the planet his Professor Yana personality was found on was also the home planet of the Face of Boe.
Though this doesn't explain the time discrepency (Judging by what the professor said they've lost the ability to time travel by the time of Utopia)

Yeah, the FOB kinda died 99.05 trillion years before the Professor showed up. :) Profession Dude was a biological human, so I'm not sure how he could have lived so long - unless he appeared there in the past and then nicked off with a one-shot thing to his bolthole... which seems a bit dodgey.

Jack's wrist computer now being a vortex manipulator is pretty funny stuff. :)

But the wrist thingy burned out after the last hop.

Also, ignore my stupid idea that he's a past regeneration.

There's a big picture of McGann, middle of the page, in Human Nature. So yes. At least to some degree. And all the marketing has the last two as ninth and tenth doctors respectively.

The Face of Boe lived through Jack's time, and far beyond, as the leader/patriarch of a species that appears named after him. I think he has the resources to get hold of a time-machine if he wants to see the end of the universe...

Why the Face of Boe couldn't manage, "By the way, he's evil" is another matter.

His message was directly linked to the Master's frickin alias - either there's something going on, or the Face is just a cunt. He drops a feelgood message which basically dooms the universe. And he held it in his whole stupid life? Pfffft.

RTD mentioned as an aside in Doctor Who Confidential that there's more to the Face of Boe to show yet than has already been shown.

"I've not had any in four billion years. I know. I'll dick about with this time traveller..."

As for the Doctor being 'sorry' he's got no reason to be sorry for what he did in the TVM. He looks at the Master, thinks about it for a moment, and then tries to pull him back. The Master shouts "Neveerrr" like Ian Paisly talking about Republicans, and gets kerploded.

It's not like the Doctor stood there and let him fall in, or pulled the lever.

I also hear there's a fleet of Time Lord ships in the offing. I'm struggling to make these ideas not-lame, but it's beyond me. :)

It's neat that the Master did his usual cunning thing (ie, spending possibly years as Saxon, contacting aliens to do his evil bidding, etc) after stealing the TARDIS. Even more amusingly, this hides his plot in the Doctor's own timeline, so he can't stop him until 'after'! :D

I hope the Master gets his own TARDIS, and Master/Saxon stays as the Master for as long as David Tennant is the Doctor- they're definitely going for the whole two-sides-of-the-same-coin thing.

Great music in that episode. Yes we've heard most of it before, but I loved the arrangement. Leena was sad the blue alien died. Even though it was mostly filler around the Master revelation, I liked it; it's good that not everything has to be a critical part of the plot.

Great episode!

Arround the second time that Time-ralated words started echoing in Yana's head, I thought of the Watch from Human Nature/Family of Blood. A very well played plot element.

Also loved the entrance for Simm's Master. He just sounded like he was having such a great day. Freshly regenerated, just (possibly) killed a whole lot of humans, and to top it all off he stole his nemesis' beloved blue box.

This has sure-as-fuck better not be spoilers for future episodes. Same with the "Time Lord Empire" you mentioned before.

For those who did not see the Coming soon trailer at the end, spoilers ahoy

I did watch DWC this morning - Saxon/TM does have a red sonic screwdriver, it has three little LED's in the tip, rather than a whole circle blue one, like the Doc's

This is a better one (avoids some cut-off at the beginning), but it might not be available to non British viewers.

Also, the Saxon clips.
