Alright, I've finished the season.

There's one severe goof, and that is that the episodes were not listed or shown in their production error - this is an egregiously bad goof because one of the characters gets killed in an episode, there's two episodes where he's dead, then there's an episode that prominently features him, then for the rest of the season he's dead. WHOOPS. Makes me wonder exactly what order the episodes are supposed to be shown in because I didn't pay super-close attention to everything, although I know it can't be as bad as Firefly was supposedly pooched.

The last episode features the "Chaodai", a super-secreti... oh, fuck it, they're the Romulans to the UEO Federation and the Macronesian Klingons, only now with some offensive Asian stereotypes thrown in. Worse, they seem to occupy space which the first episode's map mostly designated as Macronesian territory, so they were pretty obviously written in as a gimmicky new threat.

Uraniun235 wrote:However, some of the details are: for example, why couldn't UEO build a new Seaquest (or two, or three?) in ten years? One of the episodes blames Bridger for keeping Seaquest a "scientific holy grail", but that doesn't make sense; the plans for the ship would certainly still be archived somewhere, and the ability to duplicate the Seaquest was proven when they rebuilt it for season 2. This is clearly a huge contriviance which could have been done away with by simply calling the failure of the UEO 'inevitable'.
NASA no longer has plans for the Saturn V rocket. Someone destroyed them in a spring cleaning exercise. These things happen.

The Skunk Works were ordered to destroy all their manufacturing tools & plans for the Blackbird, so that they could not make any more.

That one, sadly, is not a myth.

That'll teach me to believe an American who became a Briton and then moved back to America for a while only to return to Britain.

I heard that the teenaged actor who played that Weasely Crusher knock off from SeaQuest DSV had committed suicide several years ago... :?

And in the first season there was one villain character who was really scary - he looked like Howard Stern and he demanded blood in the pretitle sequence. I winced every time he raised his globe shaped weapon. For those with better memories, who was that character and what episode(s) did he turn up in?

We also had a thread about that when it was in the news.

Curses. If it's not too much trouble for any mod to fix that....

And was I the only one who had flashbacks to "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"?

Irwin Allen FTW!
There were so many similarities between those shows that it cannot have been coincidence...
There were even entire episodes that were like complete remakes...
Even the world politics were nearly the same...

Does anyone know if the City Beneath the Sea movie was set in the same universe?
They had the same flying sub and there were a FLEET of Seaview lookalikes running around.
