Those found guilty of magically having intel they don't have any means to gain will discover that in space 'Rocks fall, your entire nation dies' works.

Because of how much of my nations offensive tactics and defensive survival depend on spies and counter-spies, I'm editing my OoB to put some more points into intelligence and counterintelligence, is there a point cap for this?

Also, how will my spy network function? Mod choice, RP, or something completely different?

I realized I may have put my faction in one hell of a predicament. Sure, they might not be expansionist, but, if I play them in character, they'll try and push for peace in every conflict that pops up. Although I'm looking forward to the pure evil/destroy all life factions popping up, because that'll be the only thing that puts them on their war footing.

Remember, everyone is assumed to have OK levels of everything (unless otherwise specified). No points into EW systems doesn't mean that there are NO EW systems. No points into ground forces doesn't mean you have a couple dozen guys with pointy sticks. No points into intel doesn't mean that you have no spy network. No points (except for fleets) represents a baseline standard of ok-not-great, which you can build upon with the addition of points.

Umm, Nitram? A number of the powers invited were not human. Your conclusion in the thread doesn't make sense.

Well, he's a pirate, which is illegal, and she's an officer of the Polish Star Fleet, authorized to arrest people for being pirates. It makes a lot of sense.

On one hand, I'd say that Beckett brought the right weight of ship to the fight, a 104-gunner to fight two sub-frigate-sized ships. He lost because of black magic and a deity-blessed ship. The problem is...this is an STGOD. Neither black magic nor divine intervention are at all unusual.

Even better is when both sides are using black magic and are deity blessed. My group qualifies for both and neither too!

A little more OOB for the Starborn. I'll add some ships later. I want to try and keep it brief. Gives them a little more mystery in the early stages and also means I can have an easier time planning out empire #2 if #1 gets steam rolled right away.

This is getting off on the right foot. :D

I'll probably not last the pre-game diplomacy but it seemed a good way to get things jumping. No-one wants an alliance with the Pirate scum? For Shame!

Oh yes, I can see it now...

-Brig of the Bialystack

The Duke of March is awakened by a splash of cold water. Blinking his eyes he is surprised to find himself in darkness. Until, that is, the black sack is ripped from his head. He is tied to a pole by harsh cables and the fattest, ugliest man he has ever seen squeezed into a military uniform is leering at him.

He coughs and gives a wan smile.

"I was hoping to enjoy more of the Major General's pleasant company."

The fat man stumps forward and opens a case filled with strange and cruel instruments. His rancid breath washes over Eddard as he chortles with laughter.

"Unfortunately she is busy with more worthwhile pursuits." He slowly pulls out a heavy steel clamp and a dull looking knife, "She has left me in charge of your... education."

Brig? We are not barbarians, Sir, and you are both an officer and a gentleman. You can expect comfort and respect onboard the Bialystock.

And besides, our tortureres are impeccably groomed.

Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, I believe we were on our way to a lovely dinner.

Out of Character, should I notify people if I won't be able to post again for the day, so that they need not wait for responses? Or is it just assumed that if your not on-line, you're not able to stop bad things from happening to you?

Oh, god... No, no. If you aren't on line, then the time-flow for whatever particular event is underway also stops. If a long time passes with no response, then mods mght step in... but a day's absence is hardly a big deal.
