I've only got 80 points of them because they have no game effect other than a mild delay, and even for that you have to accurately guess who is going to attack you in advance. Spending the 80 points on more sensors would've made much more game sense, but that would've been boring.
I can live with actual, physical mines that freak up FTL travel and which can be removed. But not permanent planet-sized anomalies for basially free.
They're removable by the standard last-resort mine clearing strategy; you run your ships into them and they react violently with the FTL drives, dispersing the anomaly in the process. But it makes no real difference, because as soon as you know they're there you can plot a course to avoid them.

EDIT: Oh, and I'd consider spending more points on them, if they did something actually useful, like reliably destroying incoming ships. I assumed that would be unreasonable though.

And, for the love of the Gods, can we open up the main thread already? We're deeply in the game already...

This part:
ICVA-10 Cydonia Heavy Cruiser Interdictor: 25 Points
Drone-Based Weaponry Carrier
15 (+5 Interdiction) (+5 Point Defense)
does not match this line
6 Cydonia-class Interdictor Cruisers: 100 Points
I'll just assume you meant 4. Also I can only see 75 (25+50) points of ground bounses, but at the end you count 100 points, I'll just go with 100.

DarkHellion, 375+ 200 + 240 +100 + 70+ 60 +50 + 25 (at the end of your OOB) adds up to 1120, not 1070, which is why you are 50 points over.

Dahak? What on Earth did you do to the Robo-Bats to provoke them? I keep going back through the thread and can't find an incident.

Ugh, go to bed and you bastards shoot down a diplomatic vessel. Sigh.

Oh, and R.O.A and rhoenix, I'm afraid you both need to ammend your recent posts, as they contain strong metagaming. The "Wanderer" incident is not at all widely known, except so far as the gentlemen in the conference who pointed the wanderers out to Republic security have been informed. All anyone knows is that there were a group of powerful psions illegally infiltrating the conference- powerful psions who purposefully disguised themselves, and could be anything for Hungarian Nationalist terrorists to Orthodox Catholic psyker-priest fanatics. No-one even knows about the "Wanderers." Please, kindly ammend your posts, please?

That would be this incident. Incidentally check the NGTO thread for some more UN style politicking :)

Um, you ASSES. I ALRADY ushered the space bats into the meeting, recognizing their arrival. You guys are dumbasses.

However, the Coalition must have some teeth- it must be capable of, via democratic vote, mobilizing the resources of member states, even if they vote against a measure."

In the back of the chamber, ushers helped more delegates in- Kari'naha, and the others who had only just arrived.
This is my post from page 7 of the diplomacy thread. Sigh.

-edit- And, in fact, I feel comfortable posting Polish orbital command's response to the incident.

They teleported/displaced their people directly atop the meeting area, which did seem a slight bit...problematic. Then I took measures after which the Bats decided to freak out.

Sigh. And they were brought into the meeting hall, like 3 pages ago.

I've made a retroactive post; there's no way that Republic space command wouldn't have immediately acted when you started your little incident.

Thirdfain, your post in the game thread is somewhat wrong.
They are not present at the conference, some part of theirs just "went down", without telling anyone they'd do it (and would currently be hovering above the meeting point). And it was me that cleared them and observed them and certainly NOT told them to use anything like teleporting...

Well, cry me a river, at least we have something happening in the game :) Thirdfain, running around arresting people and impounding ships, other ships being blown up, I like to think my actions against the bats was clearly in line with current Earth-style politics ;)

I had like TEN diplomatic groups landing at the time, so I just smoothed it over and assumed that whatever method they used to land had been cleared by the authorities. Or do I need to post the precise written permission for every single group which went planetside?

Absolutely not! The only people we've caused trouble for are the pirates, who don't count as a real nation anyways, and the Wanderers, who snuck in in a concealed ship and showed up with no warning whatsoever at one of the most important diplomatic conferences in history. The spacebat ship was not cloaked when it was in Earth orbit, and as such would have been noticed, logged, contacted, and shooed along like everyone else- as I indicated in my in-game post long before this clusterfuck.

Oh, and I don't think it would be inappropriate to rewind at this point, at least a little bit. The SECOND you tried to tractor what the Polish Republic views as a legitimate diplomatic vessel, the Republic fleet would have launched fighters to support the Kiro'ner whatever ship.

-edit- Though if that's too much for anyone, we can just work from here.

Must confess I missed Thirdfain's mention of my species name and just responded to Dahak's post, which made sense given that his nation was the one I interacted with earlier.

But Thirdfain, why are you trying to retcon our perfectly splendid international diplomatic incident? You didn't think your UN clone would be able to start completely smoothly did you? :)

Because by GOD I've been using every ounce of strength I have to avoid such incidents even in extremely touchy situations, and I'm honestly more than a little angry that all this went down while I was snug in bed and unable to defuse the situation, when in-game the response would have been immediate.

-edit- and sorry, mate, but you've got a responsibility to read everyone's posts in full, as little things like that can be mucho important. Posted is canon...

Well, Starglider has been PM'ing me, since I reacted to their arrival in Earth and asked me if I were to react to his...sudden arrival at the conference. I didn't see a response (which, after checking is one single line in your post) and then I reacted. I didn't get a PM frmo Starglider not to write anymore so I thought it hadn't been dealt with.
If it is this way, then it already is completely out of temporal continuity and should be...undone, because I wouldn't have done this if you already accepted them...

I had in fact already accepted them. So this is all completely out of temporal continuity. From now on, I'm bolding empire names when I write them in posts :(

This is correct. I confess that I was expecting something along the lines of 'Hello, this way, so who are you anyway?' rather than 'OMG terrorists arrest that ship', but I thought it turned out pretty awesome.

That said if you need to retcon it for basic sanity go ahead.

EDIT: At this point it would be simpler to edit Thirdfain's post so that I hadn't arrived yet, but that's a dangerous precedent to set, so only if he's completely ok with it.

This would be good.
Just as you saw all this happening while you're asleep (and complain), a LOT happened when I was asleep, as well. Since I do this at work during the week, I try to read as quickly as I can and when you simply put this appearance of them as a single line below a post with 99% of different content... It slipped through, I apologise.

Thats a good question, mostly because at the same time Starglider posted a response in our treaty thread that, if valid, would make you and all other members itching to "avenge" our treaty members for a precieved injust attack.

Alright, basically, the spacebats showed up over Earth, and were guided in by Dahak's spacechinamen. The spacebats teleported down some delegates to the conference, and I posted the spacebat delegates being ushered in to the conference.

Then, like a page later, Dahak posts his own guys in orbit getting super-cranky about the spacebats teleporting stuff down to earth, and the spacebats respond in kind, with a tiff and a gunfight quickly erupting in orbit. The fighting and all took place while I was in bed- turned out that both Dahak AND Starglider missed my post where I let the spacebats in to the facility. In other words, there's been a major diplomatic incident which should not have happened.

Since they were already down at the conference and accepted, I wouldn't be trying to impound their ship and he wouldn't run, so it's down to a "normal" conference I think.
