Normal SW dude in ST galaxy
Ok, lets say a normal SW joe (a moisture farmer or a Stormtrooper) somehow gets stuck in the ST galaxy (the how is irrelevant) He, along with his ship (and assorted personal belongings) are stuck there indefinately.
The question is, how does the moisture farmer or stormtrooper adapt to being stuck in the idiot run, apperantly communist, pussy society of Trek? If the moisture farmer had a few beers (that he had on his ship) how many people would he beat up before he is subdued? How will the public react to the Stormie suddenly claiming everything in sight for the Emperor? Basically, how would a normal joe from SW react to the world of ST?

Can't sell the ship in the communist Federation. The ship is immediately confiscated and declared starfleet property.Bounty wrote:He sells the ship, buys a new farm and lives his life in piece. The end.

Think: if you wake up tomorrow in Farawayistan, with no obvious way home, would you raise a big stink? Would you run around claiming the lands for the glory of the US president/German chancellor/whatever? No, you'd try to adapt and live a happy life.Darth Ruinus wrote:Damn, I was hoping he woudl cause riots or something, dont know why I thought that though...Bounty wrote:He sells the ship, buys a new farm and lives his life in piece. As for communism and supposed pussification, the Trek verse is not a homogeneous blob. If he wants to find an independent world with humans where he can trade he's free to do so - New Sydney, Farius. It's not like SW citizens aren't used to seeing weird shit on a daily basis.
Depends on who he runs into first. If it's the Federation, he could easily end up in their care for the rest of his life. If he lands on a neutral world, he just needs to keep his head down.Darth Servo wrote:Can't sell the ship in the communist Federation. Oh I know the farmer would probably try to hide out, but maybe not the Stormie? I never pegged them as being worried about their own personal safety.

If hes smart he will either keep his head down or head to the nearest capitalist society and make a killing as the fastest transport in the galaxy.(not sure what the range is on those things, but if he only needs to get around Fed, Klingon, Romulan space he should be able to keep going for a fair amount of time) And after he runs out of fuel he can sell the ship to the highest bidder and retire.

Go sell the ship to the Romulans and live happily ever after in a swimming pool filled with Romulan Ale.
If the stormtrooper feels the need to be doing something for the glory of the empire he's pretty much limited to preparing intel briefings on the political players of the alpha/beta quadrants and perhaps buying up some maps to give to any future imperial forces that find their way to the milky way.
Of course the changes such technology would make to the political make up of the milky way might make living happily after a little more difficult as the Fed/Klingons are likely going to try to abduct you once they realise what the Romulans have.

He'd make do with what he has and try asnd find a civilized area to settle inDarth Ruinus wrote:Ok, lets say a normal SW joe (a moisture farmer or a Stormtrooper) somehow gets stuck in the ST galaxy (the how is irrelevant) He, along with his ship (and assorted personal belongings) are stuck there indefinately.
Only the Union of Soviet Socialist Planets (the Federation) is communistThe question is, how does the moisture farmer or stormtrooper adapt to being stuck in the idiot run, apperantly communist, pussy society of Trek?
The Klingons have a religious fundamentalist government
The Romulans appear to be a democratic republic
The Ferengi are religious capitalists
The Cardassians are under occupation
Depnds on his species and his constitutionIf the moisture farmer had a few beers (that he had on his ship) how many people would he beat up before he is subdued?
He'd be insane to do so, he has only himself and one ship, his best bet would be to offer himself as a mercenary or as a military advisorHow will the public react to the Stormie suddenly claiming everything in sight for the Emperor?
At first the Federation would seem okay to him, until the darker aspects of Federation life become apparent.Basically, how would a normal joe from SW react to the world of ST?
The Klingons would be seen as uncivilized barbarians
The Ferengi would be clearly seen as untrustworthy greedy creatures
The Romulans, despite the pointed ears and the odd forehead feature would seem to be able to offer an as close as possible facsimile to life in the Empire in comparison to the Human dominant Federation, which praises the teachings of Marx and Lenin
'Kay, back up here: they have a funky economy, but I don't know about them worshipping Marx.which praises the teachings of Marx and Lenin
And I think he (farmer or stormie) really would be best of to find some non-Federation human-colonized world. If he contacts any of the big empires, they'll want him in custody to find out more about his home universe. If he's going to avoid that at all, he either needs to stay below the radar or make up a new past.

Agreed. Assuming anybody would ever believe him to begin with.Bounty wrote: And I think he (farmer or stormie) really would be best of to find some non-Federation human-colonized world. And why exactly are people assuming our Wars Joe Regular comes with a starship?

My bad, I must have missed that. So why does the OP assume the guy has a ship? Even in Wars owning a starship (or even a spaceship) is more the equivalent of having a motorboat or maybe a small plane than having a car.
Its nowhere near as rare as it is in the UFP but it's not like virtually everybody has them.

Ah, my bad. He will naturally come out in empty space but nevertheless in the AQ instead of somewhere in the dead of intergalactic emptiness but him actually coming out on the surface of an inhabited planet is completely out of the question.
So, what kind of ship DOES our apparently-not-so-average SW guy have?

Uh, lets assume some kind of freighter ship for the farmer, and uh, any kind of small Imperial craft for the Stormie.

Is stormtrooper "normal"? I thought they were "elite" troops, or have I been infected by EU wank?
Anybody have a picture of a "normal" Star Wars soldier I can look at? I always assumed they're dressed in gray, but now I realize that's just the navy officer uniform and I can't remember any normal soldiers at all so the stormtroopers are Empire regulars?
With the Federation it always depends on what Captain you run into, and where, and whether there exists special permits. I'm not particularly convinced the Federation would immediately impound the ship. I can't see Janeway, Sisko, Kirk, Picard, or any Captain at all resorting to, "you don't have permit, all your base are belong to us!" or any of that tripe. If he appears near DS9, I don't think the Federation would give a flying fuck and even let him dock. Sometimes, people forget the Federation are the good guys. Kivas Fajo, Harry Mudd, The Raven ring a bell?
Romulans, Klingons, or anybody else, is a different story.

By normal, I mean that Stormtroopers are "just" soldiers. Elite as they may be, they are "just" background stuff. Usually.brianeyci wrote:Is stormtrooper "normal"? I thought they were "elite" troops, or have I been infected by EU wank?

Basically, "normal" as in they are not main characters to the movies.

And how would they fuel it? This is no warship, to store enough energy to lay waste to worlds and to expect to spend years between refuelings. Star Wars stuff is pretty plug'n'play, so they might be able to hack out half the internal space and put in a 'Trek reactor powerful enough to supply it's energy needs. Even then, how long will it run without spare parts? A year? five?

Who says they would have to know it would break down? He could sell it as some kind of super-advanced wonder ship that never needs spare parts.

He sells his ship, lives his life as either some yaboo on a planet or does something with his skills.
End of story.
As another note, before the lock....this is the best one can come up with?! I mean for fuck's sake, this is just a displacement scenario. The regular lone SW man will never take over unless the hand of the Emperor of Man is guiding his every action.
