Noticed today that my username on Rapture Ready is no longer there. They must have done some sort of purge. Strange, since I never trolled the board. Anyone else recently purged from that site?

It's possible they started Googling user names on other boards and purged people on boards they disapproved of.

I'm back on, though under a different name now. Looks like the board was taken over by new owners and a lot of people had to start again from scratch. I'm trying to talk about the challenges involved in attacking Iran and why it might not be such a great idea right now.

Wouldn't go so far as to say that, but some of the ideas are reactionary beyond belief. Many aren't even questioning the wisdom of attacking Iran, despite the fact that US flag officers have threatened to resign if such a decision is made. They aren't considering second and third order effects.

This might be a fun tactic to take:

You shall not murder. Attacking Iran, by necessity, requires murdering Iranian civilians, either accidentally or on purpose.
If we don't attack Iran, then they'll end up murdering in cold blood a whole lot more people than will die if we do attack Iran. So it's justified.
That's a nice bit of eisegesis there. God didn't say "Murder if by murdering you prevent others from dying", he said "DON'T MURDER." That says nothing about the actions of others, and only about your actions. Seriously, where's your faith in God to pull through for you if you obey his commandments?

Keep in mind that a reconstituted Israel under attack is one of the signs of the Apocalypse under certain interpretations of Revelation. Therefore, since the religious right has been in bed recently with the nationalist right, they really, really want the US to be on the winning side. After all, the US has been blessed by God, and is a Christian NationTM.

There's also a healthy dose of pro-Israeli propaganda going on, too, to support Israel because they think it's in the right (and the black-and-white mindset means that since Isral is in the right, Iran must necessarily be in the wrong), but the expectation of the Apocalypse kind of makes things a bit more extreme.

Israel's been under attack since it came into being. Still no sign of the rapture yet. I wonder what it's like to spend your entire life waiting and hoping for something that never seems to happen?

It's always rather sad to see diehard Christian theocrats lambasting Islamofascists for ... trying to force others to obey their beliefs. It's painfully obvious that they must be incredibly stupid for not noticing the obvious hypocrisy. I especially like the way they blast Islam for rules that violate modern humanistic morality codes, even though the Old Testament has similar rules and they routinely quote from it.

I really have no idea. I'm not up on all the interpretations of Revelations. Sounds pretty far out though. Especially as Germany doesn't have the means to invade Israel.
