General bonuses to ship capabilities were decided against. Please remove and redistribute.

UCBooties

Your looters appear to be merchant ships and as such, free. If they have combat value, then they should be paid for.

Tasoth

You have given yourself a 200 point bonus for not having any planets. Considering that your nation appears to only derive advantages from not having planets, explain.

Clarifications on you "ethically dubious warfare". Ground attack bonus?

That would be madness if the current posting rate continues. Madness! Which might be fun if it wasn't for the fact that it will likely cause many more continuity oversights. Is this senator just bitching about space taken up in the 'recently active threads' list? They do realise that 50 or so users are having an event here right?

I agree, there's at least as much interest in it as many of the other usergroups.

I'll second this idea, especially considering the sheer volume of posts this is apparently going to require.

Industrial Power bonus. We haven't even discussed production, let alone whether or not to allow people bonuses to it (using my psychic abilities I predict a "no" when that vote comes up).

Damage Control: If that makes your ships easier to repair after a battle, fine. If its useful in a fight, then each individual ship needs to pay for it.

Heavy Landing Craft: These appear to be troop transports, which are free. If they have combat value, clarify what they do and pay appropriately.

Tanasinn

Still needs on order of battle.

Damage Control useful in battle is paid for on ship by ship basis like all other ship upgrades.

In order to best avoid continuity oversights, READ OTHER PEOPLE'S POSTS BEFORE YOU WRITE YOURS.

As a corellary, GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE TO RESPOND TO YOUR POST IF THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN PRESENT FOR WHAT YOU POSTED.

This is common courtesy folks. I know it slows down the game a little sometimes, but not everyone can be at the damn computer every second of every day. Players should not be concerned that going out to a movie will result in the destruction of their nations.

I can't draw and I don't have a photobucket account, so I kind of need someone else to put me on the map. I want to go one or two hexes southwest of the dinosaurs, at -1.

Someone? Please? :)

1)I know about the Industry thing, and I can wait for it to come up later. I will accept being down 50 points if it comes to it. If anything, I wanted a justification to spend my points however, without worrying about the fluff of build times etc. (if I get 150 points, and want to just build 2 superdeadnoughts, I don't have to worry about someone saying "hey, you can't build 2 superdreads in just 3 months" and i'll go "course I can, my crazy robot builders work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and I have huge industrial output". If I get a production bonus for it, cool beans, if I just get the fluff buildtimes bonus, still cool. Otherwise I might reinvest the points, with mod approval.

2)The damage control is as you say, post fight, and also effects ground units, base defense etc. They build things so that if you don't kill it dead, it might limp off and rebuild its FTL and jump home, or repair its railcannon and come back and start terrorizing random civie neighborhoods.

3) The landing craft are very large, very fast, FTL equipped, have high tech cloaking, and high tech orbital insertion pods. I felt it fair that they cost some points to justify the fact that by fluff they are very good at landing large numbers of troops, quickly and quietly. I'll get some ship fluff up today if I can. When I get up, or maybe after work.

‘Tuledo’ Class – Light Cruiser 10 points
Modern light cruiser the ‘Tuldeo’ is designed to provide heavier firepower to a patrol group when needed, has an extremely weak interdiction system onboard.

Points for interdictor needed

‘Maria’ Class – Destroyer 4 pts x 50 = 200 pts
Equipped with modern communications and electronic warfare equipment, in addition to a pair smoothbore torpedo tubes the Maria is the escort that does it all. A jack-of-all-trades for the Portuguese fleet, it is as effective at point defense work as ships half its cost but represents a real threat to larger warships when at close range thanks to its torpedo tubes. Its electronic warfare equipment is also critical to combat operations and these ships are virtually never detached from their combat squadron.

EW points needed

‘Dourado Levantou-Se’ Class – Frigate 2 pts x 100 = 200 pts
Specialized point defense ship.

clarification needed and points cost
So I'd need to say:
‘Tuledo’ Class – Light Cruiser 5 pts +5 interdiction (this requires 51+ points into interdiction defeating specialization in order to break, right.)
‘Maria’ Class – Destroyer 2 pts +1 EW, +1 Anti-capital
‘Dourado Levantou-Se’ Class – Frigate 1 pt +1 Point Defense

the Tuledo class would require a ship with 6 pts+ of interdiction defeating to easily break. There are no fleetwide bonuses, remember?

Thanks for your attention.

I'm just going with the same explanation that Beowulf and Dark Hellion are offering in terms of my own personal brand of damage control. It's only good after battles, and it affects just about everything in my arsenal; everything's built so that if you don't kill it thoroughly, it may come back to haunt you later.

Pfft. In stgod 4 the guy who controlled earth (andorra or something abusrd like that) devoted 50% of its 'space fleet' (this was before the point system) to ground forces. Accounting for inflation, thats 750! :P

If there is one thing I CAN't abid by it is a messy MAP! Hounestly, you people we're give a nice neat map with hexxagons, how hard is it to paint within the lines? Now A few might complain about the space I've drawn up, but if you had not been using vague sqiggles in the first place...

Also, do you think I could get moved a bit to the northeast, maybe one hex over and one hex up?
