RR Evolution / Creation debate
Rapture Ready apparently does let in those who hold positions other than creation. This is one example of debate that from what I remember used to be quashed.

Rapture Ready?!
Wow, and there's actually a secularist in that swamp?
I mean, talking to those people is almost useless (the only probable use is the newcomers who aren't really sure about the diehard fundieism present on the board).

What's the point? They're ignorant morons. It's like debating auto maintenance with people who have never even seen a car. The fact that they even think they have the right to an opinion is already astounding, given their painfully obvious lack of education.
The very first fucking response is some idiot spouting that "it's only a theory" idiocy, and that is the most reasonable part of his post!

What's the use? From that link, anyone can see that they don't even know some basics such as what a scientific theory is. And to have to school them... Let them bask in their own ignorance and let them believe whatever they believe.jegs2 wrote:Rapture Ready apparently does let in those who hold positions other than creation. It always astounds me how they criticize science because "not everyone agrees" on every last detail but turn a blind eye to the literally thousands of different Christian denominations out there that they'll attack with equal vigor when science ISN'T on their immediate radar.

That should have some effect, depending on their stupidity

Actually, it was introduced because of people linking to stormfront, because there are plenty of scary people at stormfront.Frank Hipper wrote:Jegs, hotlinking to Rapture Ready is a no-no.
The custom of breaking links was introduced specifically because of linking to Rapture Ready in the first place.

And this person below illustrates flawlessly the futility in arguing with creationists:
For me, I use the Word of God as the standard for what I believe. If I used science for the standard, then I would not be able to believe the bible.

You're right. It's a complete waste of time. I tried to jump on and see if I could introduce a little sensibility, but it was impossible.
Every time I tried to nail any point about science home, the favourite thing they'd say was that ultimately science was all about ASSUMPTIONS. Radioactive dating was flawed because it was based on assumptions, many scientists were offering alternative views on evolution, many disagreed with it and of course all links led to Christian based websites.
Absolute IWOL. Far worse than anything I have ever seen posted here. It actually scared me in a way I can't quite identify. I felt like it was a guided tour of a mental ward quite frankly.

You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong

I don't intend on returning. The cardinal sin to me was the mod erasing the last two pages of a thread that had gotten "off-topic" because it was debating between members of the board on the issue of science and not addressing the actual OP of the person asking for Christian advice on the Out of Africa theory about 195,000 year old bones or something...Of course it was COMPLETELY on topic, but the sin was daring to question the YEC mindset. That's a bullshit website. Justforfun000 if you are on that forum maybe make a like to this site or others that have not been poisoned by Christian Fundies.
So that completely destroyed any interest. Erasing threads in that way is to me nothing more than a way of controlling ideas that are unliked by them and this will obviously never be allowed to be creative or productive. Completely invalidates any free-thinking.

The first thing Christians did when they got into power in Ancient Rome was to destroy all of the cultural artifacts and literature of other religions. Not just dismiss, or attack, or criticize, or say it's stupid, but physically destroy, so that it is lost to future generations and can never be seen again. That's their preferred method of dealing with competing ideas.Jericho Kross wrote:After all the crap I have seen christans do this should not be any surprise.Erasing threads in that way is to me nothing more than a way of controlling ideas that are unliked by them and this will obviously never be allowed to be creative or productive. The scarring on ancient Rome is still evident some 1600 years later. If you walk around Rome, you'll see obelisks taken from Egypt with crosses stuck on the top. The Pantheon is now a giant church -- it still holds masses -- and has been completely redone, with the statues of the gods replaced by statues of Jesus, Joseph, Mary, saints, etc. In the forum, the Curia was turned into a church (and its doors were stolen and placed on an actual basilica), and over time the ruins which stuck up above the ground were vandalized by various popes. One that springs to mind is the Arch of Titus, although I'm sure it's obvious on other artifacts, too.Darth Wong wrote:The first thing Christians did when they got into power in Ancient Rome was to destroy all of the cultural artifacts and literature of other religions. It comes straight out of the Bible, too. In Deuteronomy 7, for example, God orders not just religious cleansing but actual ethnic cleansing, killing everyone who stood in the Hebrews' way.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.
