I've never had any of the problems you are describing. In fact- I haven't seen SEV crash since the demo. I'm in full screen mode at a very reasonable resolution (despite my 88gts). Its *mostly* just opening up the ship menu or worlds menu that takes far too long. I mean, yes I have a fair number of ships; but not THAT many.

I don't think a diplomacy error really warrants a rechurn after it's been a day and many people have already submitted their turns. I know it's annoying, but you can still send the diplomacy messages next turn, so no real harm.

I can't even close the 'news' menu. I can't play my turn at ALL. I can do nothing.
Hey Kingside, if you want to RP the Federation guys as "excommunicated prisoners" be my guest. But what I want to know is whether you're ejecting population to make worlds breathers. Like oxygen ice full of only Federation.
For your information the Federation has its own penal colonies and doesn't export its criminals for extraordinary rendition. The people who leave the Federation to anywhere are freelancing entrepreneurs who haven't given up their Federation citizenship. So the Federation will have an interest in protecting them.
EDIT: On second thought, that is kind of stupid. Once you leave a country, it's over, and I even RPed Tuxedo's Romulans coming to Suran then Federation space as leaving as disgruntled. So forget it all, do whatever you want with them, and give them whatever motives you want for leaving the Federation. But the Federation's still interested in the welfare of humans, any kind of humans, anywhere.

Still, an error would have to break more than one turn to warrant rechurning after so many people have already submitted. Try to get someone to take it for you, maybe. You turned off AI control, right?Covenant wrote:You didn't read all my posts.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:I don't think a diplomacy error really warrants a rechurn after it's been a day and many people have already submitted their turns. UGH.
I can play other people's races, just not my own. I have the Exile's password, and I can activate their stuff, and go in and play. But the Hiigarans? NOPE. FUCKING BROKE. As in, still broke. Still getting Invalid Index errors, even on the new turn.

What is the deal? I bet it has to do with those little micro-empires that Brian's ex-colonies formed. Probably an AI error or something.

Damn, man -- sorry. I've been offline all afternoon, packing. Were you able to run the latest turn, after tonight's generation, or are you still having the problem, a whole turn later? Because that would be really screwed -- you'd basically be out of the game.
What's really funny is that I don't actually have an immigration treaty with you, so I'm getting human population from another source, who we have mutual immigration treaties with. I imagine you're seeing a little bit of Rhak'Thrallan population trickling into your own empire, too, eh? I've actually got one planet with five different oxygen breathing races, including yours and mine.
Yes, I am. Though not with the example given, since the Exiled are oxygen breathers, just like the Feds. The only population I'm actually scrapping is Rhak'Thrallan -- which I feel justified in doing, since I've established that is, in fact, the practice for criminals among their kind -- who can survive in the void, anyway.brianeyci wrote:But what I want to know is whether you're ejecting population to make worlds breathers.

Just checking PBW once per day would solve that problem.

King, you do whatever you want with your population, scrap them, torture them, whatever.
The Federation came through the Suran. The Federation's only got a migration treaty with the Suran right now, since they're one system away from Earth. But somehow everybody's got Federation.
It's a good RP venue. I'm not exactly sure how I'll treat them, as citizens away on vacation or people who've given up their citizenship for one reason or another. But for now people can decide on their own what they want their "Federation" people to be, criminals, businessmen, rebels, whatever.
As for the Covenant problem, can you try opening Covenant's turn King to see if it's a client side problem or whether the turn is really fucked. There's never a danger that the turn will be permanently fucked because Tuxedo stores the .gam files of every single turn and we could roll all the way back to turn one if we had to. If it turns out (bah) Covenant can't take turns at all from now on, I suggest a roll back. But only if it's confirmed, since I know IB had some earlier problems with flags and stuff and all he had to do was delete the flagtastic mod.

Arthur found me a workaround. Ending on the news screen is deadly dangerous lethal, but warping to another location via the "double click on some shit" method allows me to play as normal.
So, one partially fucked turn, but I should be okay from now on.
Okay, not perfectly okay. Just had an Index Error when I went to one of my other systems. What a fuckin' waste of time.

Well when you make troops with no weapons in SEIV and try and fight it gives a divide by zero error. Index error if I remember my computer science right could be any number of things, but it could be that.
What system is it? If we roll back two turns we have to isolate the problem. Is it the system with the neutrals?

It doesn't appear to be. The error that I got after I got moving (ie, after I avoided the first error, the second error was...) when I clicked onto Dupplin, my core homeworld, with absolutely nothing in it but me. Pretty stupid. I don't know what it could be, but I can only hope that soon these errors subside. I bet I can still play this turn out just fine, but really, what the crud is up with this?brianeyci wrote:Well when you make troops with no weapons in SEIV and try and fight it gives a divide by zero error. Don't click on the world. Use the wrench icon, sort planets, then double click Dublin. Cancel its queue, which probably has a design in it that's responsible for the index error. If you create a troop or weapons platform or anything else without picking a strategy, game can crash. At least, that's what used to happen. I don't know if they fixed that bug.
SEV is a bugged to shit game. It's more stable now, but considering the game has no easily accessible multiplayer, takes forever to play and has fan made mods better than the game itself, it's a niche and I'm willing to put up with errors in manufacturing and a less polished game.

If this was a solo game, I'd quit, but I want to be a good sport so I'll put up with things. I might eventually hand my Empire off to someone else just so I don't have the aggrivation of errors, but I'm really hoping this evens out and we can just not have to worry so much.brianeyci wrote:Don't click on the world. Covenant, I tried running your turn, and I see what you mean -- it's totally screwed. As soon as I exit the news log, the game crashes on me. But, I know why -- not game mechanics why, but functionally why, because it's hapenning to me, too.
It's the Dupplin system. Whenever I try to view it, my game crashes in the exact same way. It's not a major problem for me, since I've only got all of two colonies there, and they're just building colony ships -- which can be issued orders through the "Planets" menu. But, that's your home system -- which means that your news log exits to there, causing your game to crash. Which is why, when you double click on a menu item in the news log that takes you outside of the Dupplin system, the game doesn't crash. But as soon as you head to Dupplin, it does. It was hapenning to me because I was skipping to the next ship without orders -- which hapenned to be in the Dupplin system. It took me about three game crashes to figure that out.
But it's really pretty screwed, since that's your home system. Plus, this is the second turn in a row that it's been a problem. The only advice I can offer is to set all of your construction queus in Dupplin to rally their vessels at a waypoint outside of the system, but I don't know if we can even do that in this game.

I cancelled all the construction on the planets, and I'm just hoping for the best. If the error continues forever then I'll just declare that I've made an alliance with Kadeshi Remnants and anyone who enters the system will never, ever be able to contact their fleets again, ever, for any reason. It will become the great dark spot at the center of my Universe, and woe betide anyone who should stare (or click) into it's infinite depth.Kingside_Bishop wrote:Covenant, I tried running your turn, and I see what you mean -- it's totally screwed. Well I have a solution. We'll wait until star destroyers and black hole generators. I'll do you a favor and send one in, but have "generate black hole" in its orders queue after warp. Good as new.
Did you make any new designs that are only in that system, with some strange names? Don't want that to happen to any other systems after all.

damn this game is buggy. I tried to do a ground simulation to see what kind of damage an attack on one of my homeworlds would do, and when I went back to the system map a 160 ship Romulan fighter group with a glitched flag had appeared in a hex at the edge of my system. Nothing I could think of got it to go away. I'm gonna take an hour to do something else and then try my turn again. I'm damn near ready to quit.

Hahaha are you sure it's not real Romulans?
Never risk doing sims when you do your turn. It's a habit from SEIV when doing sims in the same game you're doing your actual turn would break your fleet apart and make it loose all its experience. The best thing is do sims separate from when you do your actual turn.

Who knows. Dupplin is still a dank pit of horrors and I dare not speak it's True Name, even of my mouth could form the dark words. Thing is, it's not doing anything unusual. It's building ships, but so is everyone else. It's just unlucky. I don't get it.ColonialAdmiral wrote:Sheesh, we got through a good couple years without any problems...
