Has anyone watched "Trekkies?"

Post by Superman »

This was quite possibly the funniest DVD that I have ever watched. My favorite part was watching the electronics guy roll around in his Captain Pike wheelchair.

I got sick of that nerdy kid in the mullet though. Has anyone else watched this movie?

Yeah, it's a great movie, even if it falls for the "Star Trek is a great show about the perfect future" notion.
It's funny, without being too mean to the subjects. Plus, you're right, the guy with the Cpt. Pike wheelchair rocks!
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

what kind of lameass would build himself a capt. pike wheelchair? that's kind of sad. Actually it reminds me of the interview Patrick Stewart did on Conan O'Brien's show. he was telling Conan how somebody stole the captian's chair from the set of Nemesis. Conan went on to goof about how it was found in some guy's living room tied into his entertainment center...'Take us to channel 7 at warp factor 9!'

Supposedly it was actually stolen off the set by the Enterprise cast (no joke!).

Was that the one with the girl who was infatuated with Brent Spiner,... who got a place because the window was pointed towards Brent's house or something...?

That was a hilarious show and I believe that a good point was made about these people. It talks about the creative genius in the Trekkie community that is focussed on Trek, for instance the guy in the Pike chair (AWESOME scene, I stared dumbfounded on the screen as he zoomed down the sidewalk in his wheelchair.) He bent all his creative energy TAUGHT HIMSELF electronics so that he could build this stuff. You had the various fanfic writers, you had the mullet kid who was actually doing a CGI movie on his computer and the graphics looked pretty decent (hell better than I could ever do) so it was sort of an homage to that community but at the same time I could not help but think what a waste of talent and resources that could be used for far more important and relevant things.

On the same note, I'd recommend Free Enterprise. It's a film about two Star Trek geeks that grew up. It also has William Shatner as himself, and he's a complete loser. Very funny. :)

Oh god, not that move. :D I love it when the two lovers are on the beach at sunset and the girl tells him to stop living in the 24th and he exclaims, "I would never live in the 24th centurty because I fucking hate The Next Generation! Its really dramatic.

Wasn't there some movie (I swear I heard about this one time, can't really recall much) about these two guys, can't remember if they were brothers or just friends or what... but the one guy had some disease (think he was dying) and he was a big Star Wars fan, so his wish was to visit Skywalker ranch before he kicked the bucket and so the movie was about their trip there.

Not sure if it was a documentary or based on truth.... argh, anybody know anything about this??

Did you watch the comedians tell jokes at the end of the movie? One of them went something like, "so they are supposed to be going 'where no man has gone before,' but there is always somebody there waiting for them!"

"Trekkies" was hilarious. I am going to buy this one for my collection.

Oh, that woman who was obsessed with Brent Spiner had a house that was near his and she would frequently go on "Brent breaks" so she could go outside to stare in the direction of his house. The scary part about all of this is that these people are actually free to roam around in society.

Heh, yeah, too bad we can't round up all the 'undesirables' and have them all gassed to death.

Heh.

No.

You want "scary that they're loose in society"? How about convicted murderers? Or rapists? They're the dangerous ones.
