Yes, it would have been a stupid mistake if they would have known, but they did not know who Megatron was, or what he was doing.

Am I wrong or was it suggested at the end that the existence of the transformers was covered up by the government, and that the public was unaware of them? That seems beyond impossible given the scale of the final fight, and the smaller, but still very public, fight on the freeway.

I got that vibe too, but cant figure out haw it would be remotely possible to cover up something that big happening in a major city center.

The "Your head seems alot smaller on tv" line was funny too

Who knows how they were supposed to explain the city battle away.

Perhaps the MiB exist in the TF movie continuity.

There was stupidity throughout the entire last half hour of the film.

Hey, I've got an idea, let's take the allspark in side the middle of a big city where there will be lots of innocents in the way and collateral damage!!! Great idea!!!!!

Hey, let's not bother melting down the worn out Decepticons to prevent them from ever reactivating. Let's just dump them as is into the ocean.

Duh, dumping them into an ocean trench allows for the main villain to possibly return in the sequels. :P

As opposed to... what exactly? The autobots all have cars as alt forms. At least three of the decepticons have high speed aircraft forms. This distinctly limits the number of places you have to run hide the damn thing at before they catch up with you. Their rational for taking it into the city is that there's lots of places to hide it, lots of concrete and power lines, and emissions that will make it that much harder to pinpoint (remember the whole reason they built the dam around it in the first place).

Yes it places lots of innocent people at risk which is a terrible thing. On the other hand if the decepticons get ahold of it everybody on the planet dies so there's not exactly a great alternative here.

Proof they can reactivate after apparent death while at the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean down in the cold and the dark? Otherwise you're bitching about pure speculation.

I thought that too for a while then I realized that as far as the public knows, giant robots appeared out of nowhere and leveled a city. I assume Prime meant they were still covert because nobody really knew that they had the vehicle alt modes- or even if they did, it would be impossible to tell which machines were robots and which were just...machines. After all, if Bumblebee could update himself and change form, so can the rest of them. Total anonymity.

Shia LaBeouf is a whiny little bitch. The movie would be absolutely unbearable if it wasn't for the amazing action scenes.

I'm inclined to agree, seemingly every human character in that film was godawfully annoying.

I thought his acting was solid. The only human actor that I didn't like were the Sector 7 agent but otherwise, it felt like all of the actors performed accordingly.

I thought he was good; but his interaction with his parents, and the girl- actors playing the characters- was better than his interaction with a stand in for the various Cybertronians. Megan Fox was fantastic at what she was hired for- looks.

For a few seconds, when Megan Fox was looking under Bumblebee's hood I was thinking that I could care less if I see a fucking robot.

Saw it last night. It was good for robot fight scenes, the human characters (minus Sector 7 guy, aka Agent Dick) were bearable. The humor worked. It was a massive orgy of really nice CGI. I only felt it was dragging during the whole Hoover Dam scene. And I still don't get how holding the Allspark up to Megatron resulted in his death.

Further, the Allspark seems to have a serious flaw in that everything it created seemed to be freakin' evil.

Personally I think after Prime's monalogue at the end we should have cut to Starscream flying off proclaiming "Megatron has fallen! I am now the leader!" :D

'Feral' is the word I used; they didn't so much act evil as they did act like wild animals surrounded by threats. It links back to Prime's line about 'Were we so different?'

speaking of Starscream is it just me or did he change into cybertorian from after breaking from orbit in the end?

that would pretty much scream for Galvatron in Trasformes 2 (should that happen).

I didn't see anything like that. All I saw were the surrounding flames as he broke through the atmosphere.

He becomes slightly more angular, and I believe he gets canard wings in the front.

I saw it a second time last night, and it was still quite enjoyable. However, on repeated viewing you can see the many failings of Bay as a director, such as his overuse of slow-mo, the Sector 7 bullshit (only the mustached sector 7 head was any good) and the lame cheese. The original movie had very campy cheese, similar to the cheesyness in the first 2 spiderman movies, while the cheese in the Live action movie was always just boring and for lack of a better word, lame.
The fight scenes are better on second viewing, when you can start to see the details of the fight better. I do wish it had one more fight scene, or an extended fight between Barricade and Bumblebee, just to round it out. It felt like it had about 10 minutes to much talking/travel scenes and about 5 minutes too little fighting during the first 90 minutes.

Prime explained this though he intended it be used on him. Combine the spark with a transformers allspark and it destroys both of them.

Did Megatron have some gaping hole in his chest? When Prime revealed his spark it was behind a few plats he had to shift to get at it.

The only thing I wanted from Starscream was for him to screech, 'Pathetic Fools!!' as he did his attacks.
