Our kids play with eachothers toys all the time, granted it's more our daughter playing with our sons cars more than it is our son playing with her ponies and dolls but it still happens and we don't make a big deal about it. We're just happy to see them getting along!

I'm fairly certain that what a child plays with decides whether or not they'll be gay or straight.

I think it's just a matter of what the parents are comfy with.

For homosexuality, that's unquestionably correct, as 300 amply demonstrates that gay male homosexuality has no connection with effeminate behaviour, for instance. *chuckling*

That said, in cases of gender dysphoria it could very much be a sign, in connection with some other things. This is, however, an entirely unrelated biological issue of a congenital birth defect in the brain and has no genuine association with homosexuality.

My understanding is that some transsexuals will, for a period of their life, exaggerate their physical gender - as an example, a man becoming super-macho in attempt to resolve the problem of feeling that he is a woman in a man's body. In which case, it's not always the boy playing with barbie dolls that parents should be concerned about, if they fear their child being a transsexual.

Oh, quite. But there's been quite a movement to try and accomadate, where possible, a tendency toward younger transitioners, and so parents should be aware of these possibilities. Such behaviour usually doesn't manifest until later in life when the child is less innocent and more inclined to understand intellectually what society "expects".
