The Dictatorship of Grossedeutschland
"For God Honor and Fatherland"

UN Category: Corporate Police State

Civil Rights: Outlawed
Economy: Thriving
Political Freedoms: Outlawed

The Dictatorship of Grossedeutschland is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5 million are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, moralistic individuals devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A robust private sector is led by the Cheese Exports, Automobile Manufacturing, and Book Publishing industries.

Crime is a problem. Grossedeutschland's national animal is the german shepherd, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the reichsmark.

The Democratic States of ArmorPierce is a small, pleasant nation, notable for its burgeoning grizzly bear population. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 8 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 18%. A large private sector is led by the Retail, Cheese Exports, and Beef-Based Agriculture industries.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, a large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, voting is voluntary, and organ donation rates are among the lowest in the region. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Kingdom of Evil Kanada
"Ad naseum mare"

UN Category: Corporate Police State
Civil Rights: Few
Economy: Very Strong
Political Freedoms: Outlawed

Location: SDnet

The Kingdom of Evil Kanada is a small, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 8 million are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The tiny, corrupt government is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 2%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, and Cheese Exports industries.

The mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, citizens are barcoded to keep track of their movements, the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, and military spending is on the increase. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. Evil Kanada's national animal is the mutant beaver, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

The People's Republic of Fascist America
"Patriotism is Mandatory"

UN Category: Corporate Police State
Civil Rights: Rare Economy: Powerhouse Political Freedoms: Rare

Location: SDnet

The People's Republic of Fascist America is a small, economically powerful nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 7 million are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The minute, corrupt, moralistic, pro-business government, or what there is of one, devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A healthy private sector is led by the Basket Weaving, Uranium Mining, and Cheese Exports industries.

The latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, citizens are barcoded to keep track of their movements, and there are no minimum wage laws. Crime is moderate. Fascist America's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

The Commonwealth of Tarbonesis has announced its candidacy for UN Delegate. There's an announcement on the SDnet regional page. The position of the Commonwealth has been laid out explicitly there. If you agree, Tarbonesis humbly requests your endorsement.

The representative from Tarbonesis humbly points out to the other representatives here that the United States of Fascist America has presented the region with no position and no proposals. As of now, the only thing we can be certain of is that Fascist America is in favor of getting elected.

Edit: The representative asks that this comment be stricken from the record, as the United States of Fascis America did indeed present reasons that this representative was not aware of previously.

America's views are available for study at the sdnet forum; that of equitable representation from the continent to the u.n. in interest of prosperity and order, while maintaining individual national sovreignity.

Edit: Similar statement, as this was written before he retracted his comment.

The Free Land of Verbena
"Dum Vivamus, Vivamus!"

UN Category: Scandinavian Liberal Paradise
Civil Rights: World Benchmark Economy: Developing Political Freedoms: Below Average

Location: SDnet
The Free Land of Verbena is a tiny, devout nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate population of 5 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level social equality free of the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Education and Healthcare are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 49%, but much higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Verbena's national animal is the great snowy owl, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the pinwheel.

We are proud and honoured to be numbered among the nations of SDnet. Come to Verbena. See the lovely lakes. Meet the many charming Nature-Diety-Worshippers. Voluteer to be the centerpiece in our 4 major yearly celebrations. (but do your research first). Respect our Soverignty, respect one another, and have a nice day.

((Basic, fuzzy concept, based on an old Player Character... what WOULD a Wiccan NATION look like. Not a mandatory religon one, but a whole nation of serious mother-earth-goddess types in the modern world...))

((And how the bloody hell did they turn it into a freaking welfare state. I swear I didnt realize how serioulsy theyd take certain starting answers...))

From Vasey's
Scientists in my country are about to make a medical breakthrough using cloning technology.

Take 3 guesses as to whether I listened to those protesting against it or not
Yu think you could share of of this tech? I've been cloning a new milit.....Oh I mean i've been reasearching the human DNA strand.

My nation just sucessfully tested a missle with 1000km range and we'd be happy to share the tech for that. As for the contentsof the warhead, well, I'll leave that to your own nuclear deivces.

As a member of the UN, I will move my nation under the banner of SDNet as part of the independent political nations (I may disagree with y'all on religion, but other than that I'm not that much different). Whoever we send to the UN needs to make sure that they can be on here to ask questions about our views on resolutions.

The Issue
The Police department is considering installing surveillance cameras in all major public areas, in an effort to crack down on crime.

The Debate
"This is a blatant invasion of the right to privacy!" says libertarian web site operator Charles Hamilton. "Now I can't even go out in public any more without being watched? And you know this is just the beginning. Today there are cameras in city streets. Tomorrow they're peering through your bedroom window."
[Accept]

"Hey, I've got news for you," says Police media liaison Hope King. "When you're out in public, PEOPLE CAN SEE YOU. These cameras will be extremely helpful in reducing the national crime rate. Frankly, I can't see what the fuss is about."
[Accept]

"This 'slippery slope' argument has got me thinking," says Police Minister Jazz Barry. "You know, it would be a lot easier to fight crime if we watched people all the time. Not with cameras, of course. That's clearly an invasion of privacy. But how about a national database of our citizens, coupled with compulsory ID cards and barcoding? It would stop crime dead in its tracks."
[Accept]

What should I do? I was thinking 2 or 3 but 3 sounds a bit dictatorship of me. I have to do something to limit my people's freedom as they are now abusing it but I don't want to go overboard.
