Halo 3 Live Action Trailer

Post by JLTucker »

This was on Microsoft's Press Conference at E3 '07. It reminds me of freaking "Marines" and "Army" advertisements. "Halo 3. Finish the Fight."

Now THATS the shit I was looking for.

A few interesting storyline things.

* A scene where The MC, GS and the Arbiter are standing together, looks like inside a Covenant ship, watching a hologram of Cortana...and she looks like she has a hell of a headache.

* Johnson, the Cheif and someone in an ODST looking suit in a Pelican diving right for a planet (Earth?) in the middle of a Space Battle, looks like they and a group of Pelicans dropped right out of a Covenant Cruiser. Probably the Elites gave the survivors from IAC a lift to Earth.

* A bit, might be Multi player, with the MC and the Arbiter holding chainguns from a Warthog and generally shooting the crap out of stuff.

* One sequence where the MC in a split second gets in the face of the Arbiter holding a pistol to his face.

* The MC standing on what looks like the same cliff edge in the announcement trailer, but with the Arbiter alongside him.

* Miranda Keyes facing off against a trio of Brutes, pointing two SMG's at two of them...(strange that they didn't get the same lady back to do her voice if they are having her appear in game)...

* UNSC Frigates of the same class as In Amber Clad firing what looked to be Archer missiles at something while inside an atmosphere.

Well I'm interested.

As usual, Halo does nothing for me, but I did like the Terrence "Kneel Before Zod" Stamp voice over.

Meh, seems ok I guess.

Wow. :)

Live-Action Trailer: I'll admit, this one did lack a bit of energy, and looked like a truck commerical in places, but I was nonetheless impressed by the sheer amount of detail and prop-design that went into its production. If nothing else, this boosted my hopes for the Halo movie, when it finally gets off paper (and it will).

Game Trailer: Now that's more like it. I really like the look of the gameplay (a graphics boost, AI improvement, and gameplay tweaking is all I really wanted), and its looks like Bungie really added some good bits to te campaign; shooting marines out of the clutches of drones and killing a Scarab on foot? Hell yes. And the story-line looks quite promising as well, although I am a bit surprised that they have Cortana, the Arbiter, Keyes, and Johnson on Earth so quickly. Perhaps you rescue Cortana from the Gravemind early on, or something. It looks like the UNSC/Covenant Separatist alliance thing is pretty much confirmed, although its good to see that it doesn't happen without a few hitches (MC's pistol against Arbiter's jaw).

Makes me wish that there actually was a movie. I mean, I know that movies based on video games often aren't that great*, but this is one of the best selling games of all time...

*(My opinion)

Cortanna, is probably being shown by 343, and Keyes was in a forerunner location, you can tell by the architecture. Oh and it was sweet to see those frigates firing their MAC guns. Also, that scene with Johnson, the Chief and either a pilot or an ODST in a pelican is diving onto a Halo installation.

The live action one lacked energy, but I was intrigued by the special effects. It was something out of the ordinary.

The second trailer was just a boring montage, and frankly I'm not impressed one bit. Ships flying overwhere, explosions, etc. do not always a good trailer make. If it had been a little shorter, sure.

I think that's at a Halo installation. If you look to the left right as the scene pans away from the cockpit you will see the ring.

I'm so fucking excited about this game.

I kinda liked the live action trailer. It had sort of an Aliens vibe.

From what I hear, the live action trailer was made as a sort of fuck you to the people who had killed the Halo movie.

Well, the UNSC in general has always seemed to vaguely echo the Aliens marines. =P

Well according the Ain't It Cool News, it's the 1st of several live action shorts directed by Neill Blomkamp. The guy who was contracted to do the live action movie. And WETA Workshop was involved as well.

I've got to jump in with Chris and Noble Ire, Halo 3 is a definant must have for me. And the emphasis on single player this time is noticable thank god. Halo 2's single player was *clearly* lackluster.

Oh, and one other thing. The E3 trailer shows me, as always, Martin O'Donnel is a fucking genious.

I agree wholeheartedly; he means just as much to the Halo franchise as John Williams does to Star Wars. On that note, Bungie has yet another tidbit for the fans: a free MP3of the trailer's theme.

Gibblets!

I don't know why, but that was probably the best part of the trailer for me.

Now that's a trailer worth a damn. If that live-action spot is the guy they slated to do the movie, I'm glad that it's on hold.
