Compressed connections rock!
I sort of have my linux setup working, (later have to remove all rpms and compile from source). Now that I have good working init string for the modem, data downloads fast as hell due to compression (web sites are uncompressed plain text, unfortunately compressing precompressed downloads does nothing). Of course I'm cheating using a text-only browser, but I still get 7Kilobytes/s on a 26.4kilobits/s connection. Not really a scientific test though. Does anyone know where I can get benchmarks? How do you enable this on windows? Theres a setting in the modem for it, but that doesn't do anything. Does DUN for windows support compression using deflate? Oh and wong do you notice this? then again he has a filthy broadband connection
